Alex Collver Alex Collver 5'9" | 180 lbs | RB New Hartford | 2023 NY – Sr RB/LB, 5’9, 180
A 1st Team Class B All League Running Back in 2021, Alex Collver Alex Collver 5'9" | 180 lbs | RB New Hartford | 2023 NY is continuing to show off his ability early on this season. Thus far this season Alex has toted the rock 80 times for the Spartans of New Hartford, amassing over 500 yards in just three games. His lowest rushing output was Week 2 against West Genesee with 139 yards but he also punched in a season high 2 touchdowns on the ground that game as well. Alex is a smaller back but you would not think so watching him play as he is a powerful, downhill runner but also shows the ability to breakaway and finish runs with an excellent burst of acceleration. His strong lower half allows him to be a slippery and elusive runner, making him extremely difficult to bring to the ground. At the college level Alex projects to be a solid Division 3 running back or even defensive back up here in the Northeast.
RFA (1-2) 21 – 20 Win against Henninger (1-2)
Evan Carlson-Stephenson Evan Carlson-Stephenson 6'2" | 190 lbs | QB Rome Free Academy | 2024 State NY – Jr QB, 6’1, 180
RFA had their standout QB step up and lead them to their first victory of the season this past week. Last year Evan made waves throughout Central New York as he was selected as a 2nd Team Class AA All League Quarterback as a Sophomore, this year he has only continued to grow. Evan led the Black Knights through the air as he completed 20 passes for 304 yards, three touchdowns. This included the go ahead 55 yard touchdown pass that sealed the deal for RFA. He throws the ball with pin point accuracy, he has a strong arm with sound mechanics and decision making skills. Evan does an exceptional job working through his progressions and he is extremely comfortable in the pocket (climbing, hitching up and releasing when necessary). At the next level I see Evan being a great get for an NEC FCS School as a Walk On where he could work to earn his way onto the field. If not there then Evan would make a great fit as an NE-10 or Empire 8 QB where I believe he could see the field and have a substantial impact.
Jack Lawless – Sr WR, 6’3, 187
Another key performer this week also came from RFA’s Offense in the form of Wide Receiver Jack Lawless. Utilizing his big Frame, Jack was able to carve out quite the day for the Black Knights tallying up 10 catches, 144 yards and a touchdown catch. Jack is a big target that is a very good route runner, he has soft hands with an exceptional catch radius as well. He has the ability to run routes over the middle, catch and make plays after the fact. Even with his size, Jack is able to get yards after the catch and is not someone a DB wants to meet up with in the open field. With Jack’s size and skill set, he could be a great pickup for an NEC FCS School as a Walk On. Schools in the NE10 and Empire 8 should be all over him as well because he could be a difference maker at that level if he does slip through the cracks.
