1. Baylor (3-0) at Pope Prep (4-0)
– The #PRZTN number one ranked Red Raiders travel to Middle Tennessee tonight to face off against Kenny Minchey Kenny Minchey 6'2" | 200 lbs | QB Pope Prep | 2023 State TN and a high scoring Knights offense that will be more than primed to pull off the upset. This will be an interesting battle between two state title caliber teams that sport a bevy of college prospects. The line of scrimmage I feel will be the difference in this game, so whoever plays with the best physicality will win this game.
Key Matchup: Brycen Sanders Brycen Sanders 6'6" | 285 lbs | OL Baylor School | 2023 State TN and the Baylor O-line vs. Jamarr Jones Jamarr Jones 6'2" | 260 lbs | DL FRA | 2023 State TN and the Knights front seven
2. Knox. West (4-0) at Sevier Co. (4-0)
– The biggest game from the East Tennessee region this week pits these two undefeated teams against each other in what should be a slugfest that is not settled till the very end. West is coming in as the favorite but the Smoky Bears have played a tough schedule, so they will be ready. Whichever defense bends the most will find themselves on the losing end of this contest.
Key Matchup: Sevier Co. (QB) Christian Hoffman Christian Hoffman 6'5" | 215 lbs | QB Sevier Co. | 2024 TN vs. the Rebels secondary
3. FRA (4-0) at Lipscomb Academy (4-0)
– Can the road Panthers take down one of the best teams in the state? It will be a challenge as the home Mustangs are loaded with talent and have looked quite impressive so far this season. FRA must lean on Joe Crocker Joe Crocker 6'6" | 310 lbs | OL FRA | 2023 State TN , the O-line and junior back Ty Clark III Ty Clark III 6'1" | 200 lbs | RB FRA | 2024 State TN if they want a shot at knocking out the reigning D2-Class AA champ.
Key Matchup: Lipscomb’s front seven vs. Crocker and the Panthers O-line
4. Haywood (3-0) at Milan (4-0)
– These two know each other very well, so there shouldn’t be any surprises when they clash on the gridiron Friday night in Milan. This will be a physical, hard nosed matchup that could be dictated by each other’s defense. Haywood quarterback Cordero Walker Cordero Walker 6'0" | 180 lbs | QB Germantown | 2024 State TN could be the difference maker in this game but Milan won’t be an easy out, especially at home.
Key Matchup: Haywood’s front seven vs. a stout Milan offensive line
5. Bartlett (3-1) at Germantown (4-0)
– Coming off a huge win over Lausanne, the Panthers must now pull off another upset as they take on one of the best teams in the state at their house. Germantown is a well balanced team, led by Isaiah Tate Isaiah Tate 6'1" | 180 lbs | QB Germantown | 2023 State TN at quarterback that has 6A title aspirations but they must stave off a hungry Bartlett team that won’t be scared to compete.
Key Matchup: Tate and the Red Devils passing attack vs. a very talented Bartlett secondary
6. Ensworth (3-1) at MUS (3-1)
– Both these teams come into the game with one loss but they both still have the rosters for a big 2022 year that includes a possible trip to Chattanooga. On paper, this game looks like a defensive contest that may be low scoring, so whichever offense has the most explosive plays will win this game.
Key Matchup: Brandon Nicholson Brandon Nicholson 6'0" | 175 lbs | DB MUS | 2024 State TN & the MUS secondary vs. Shamar Porter Shamar Porter 6'3" | 200 lbs | WR Ensworth | 2023 State TN and the Tigers receivers
7. Chatt. Central (3-1) at Red Bank (3-0)
– This is one of the more intriguing matchups of Week Five as you have two title contending, Chattanooga based teams going head to head with each other in what should be a physical, close contest till the end. Both teams need their playmakers to shine as the defense’s will be ready to slug things out.

– It’s been a special start to the season for Harpeth but they face their biggest challenge yet, hitting the road on Friday to face off with the most talented team in the region. East Robertson has turned things on over the past few weeks and is playing strong football, so the road Indians better watch out!
Key Matchup: Harpeth’s back seven vs. the Indians skill players (WR’s and RB’s)
10. Franklin Co. (3-1) at Page (4-0)
– The undefeated Patriots will be hosting and playing against the most athletic team they have faced yet, so this will be a challenge for the #PRZTN Class 5A 2nd ranked team in the state. Watch out for Na’Zaiyah Holman Na’Zaiyah Holman 6'0" | 175 lbs | WR Franklin Co. | 2023 State TN and his twin brother NaShawn Holman NaShawn Holman 5'10" | 160 lbs | WR Franklin Co. | 2023 TN in this contest as they could give the Page defensive backs trouble.
