Both teams are just coming off their bye week, therefore they’re fully rested and ready for this game. Both teams have highly ranked athletes in Texas so I was ready for a great game. It was in the beginning, but towards the 2nd quarter and 2nd, half Cypress Ranch had all the momentum and couldn’t be stopped. The final score of the game was 49-17 ending in a Cypress Ranch victory. Cypress Ranch has numerous amount of standouts on both sides of the ball I’ll be discussing athletes on defense in this article.
#10 Blake Baker Blake Baker 6'5" | 195 lbs | QB Cypress Ranch | 2023 State TX QB Sr 6’5 195 lbs
Blake Baker Blake Baker 6'5" | 195 lbs | QB Cypress Ranch | 2023 State TX is one of the best quarterbacks I have seen this season. Blake had great protection in his offensive line allowing him to stay in the pocket and just focus on throwing the ball the best he could. Blake throws a perfect spiral for every pass brilliantly passing the ball to his wide receivers and giving them the best chance to score. However, throwing and passing isn’t the only thing Blake can do also an efficient scrambler finding the perfect path to run through and getting enough yards for a 1st down or even a touchdown. Blake currently has one offer from the new name Houston Christian University, but I’m sure he’ll have many more by the end of the season. Blake finished the game by throwing 5 touchdown passes and running one touchdown himself.
#13 Jarred Sample Jarred Sample 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR Cypress Ranch | 2023 State TX WR Sr 5’10 170 lbs
I was looking forward to seeing Texas ranked #127 wide receiver Jarred Sample Jarred Sample 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR Cypress Ranch | 2023 State TX . Jarred’s specialty was his speed the opposing defensive backs couldn’t stop him at all. Letting Jarred run down the field completely open for passes was the worst outcome for Cypress Woods which led to Cypress Ranch getting all the momentum throughout the whole game. Jarred is a top college prospect catching the attention of numerous amount of colleges and universities, but the college he chose to commit to was The University of Kansas. Jarred finished the game with one touchdown.
#1 Tracy James DB, WR Jr
Tracy James had a great night against Cypress Woods. Tracy was extremely quick allowing him to always be in a good spot to receive passes. The majority of the passes being short passes lead Tracy to have the most passes caught from the Cypress Ranch receiving core. Tracy was always a reliable receiver and got a lot of yards throughout the night. Tracy finished the game with two touchdowns.
#83 Cameron Collier WR Sr 6’1 185 lbs
Cameron Collier is a big and solid wide receiver. When I 1st saw Cam I thought he was a tight end because of his build, but he was an adequate wide receiver. Based on his build Cam was strong, tough, and durable being able to take hits and keep on moving. Cameron finished the game with one touchdown.
