We’ve seen some quarterbacks emerge in Cobb County to start the 2022 season and Prep Redzone has the details below…
Jeremy Hecklinski Jeremy Hecklinski 6'0" | 180 lbs | QB Walton | 2024 State GA – Walton
It’s hard to find a quarterback across the state who is turning more heads that the junior gunslinger out of Walton. During Walton’s tough Corky Kell loss to Mill Creek in week one, the 2024 QB was excellent, throwing for over 400 yards and multiple touchdowns. He showed great pocket presence, a strong arm, and the ability to throw the ball accurately down the field. His arm talent is easy to see as he can make throws all over the field from different arm angles. He throws with touch but can put some heat on his passes as well. He led thee Raiders to a big win over Brookwood in week two, throwing for over 200 yards and multiple touchdowns once again. He’s not the biggest quarterbacks, but it’s clear he has one of the best arms in the state. Through two weeks, Hecklinski has thrown for 643 yards and 7 touchdowns. Expect some offers to come his way at some point this fall.
Braylan Ford – Harrison
A new quarterback prospect to know in the 2024 class, Ford has started his junior season strong, although the Hoyas have lost two close games to start the season. However, Ford appears to be a guy they can start winning around due to his arm strength, pocket presence, and mobility. He has good size and speed at 6-foot-2 185-pounds and he showed a very strong arm in last week’s loss to South Forsyth, going 22/23 for 232 yards and three touchdown passes. He moved well in the pocket and put some great touch on the ball down the field. He can throw a strike when he needs to and appears to be a leader that the Hoyas can rally behind. He’s shown a lot of promise so far and could have a big junior season if he continues to improve week by week.
Bryce Clavon Bryce Clavon 5'11" | 185 lbs | QB Kell | 2024 State GA – Kell
We’ve written about him before and for good reason. The 2024 dual-threat quarterback and two-spot star out of Kell High School has made a big impact for the Longhorns so far this year, leading the team to a 2-0 start and making it look easy at times. A quick and mobile quarterback, Clavon also has a strong right arm that allows him to throw the ball accurately down the field. He’s a tremendous athlete, but he also knows how to play quarterback. He gets the ball out quickly, reads the field well, and put the ball where he needs to be. If there’s room to run, Clavon shows the ability to take off for a big gain when he needs too. So far this season, Clavon has thrown for 467 yards and 4 touchdowns. As a runner, Clavon has rushed 17 times for 162 yards and one more score. Look for him to continue thriving throughout his junior season.
Cayman Prangley Cayman Prangley 6'2" | 200 lbs | QB Kennesaw Mountain | 2023 State GA – Kennesaw Mountain
A multi-year starter for a Kennesaw Mountain program on the rise, Prangley is looking to lead the Mustangs to a deep playoff run this fall as a senior. He didn’t have his best game in a week one win over Cass, but he bounced back in a big way over Campbell in week two, throwing for 246 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for two short touchdowns in the big victory. He’s poised, confident, and shows impressive leadership skills. He has a quick release and knows where he needs to go with the football before the play even starts. His accuracy continues to improve, and that’s not what defenses want to hear. After a giant week two performance, look for Prangley to keep pushing forward and leading the Mustangs to a big season
