Currently, the Bulldogs sit at 0-3 with a bye this week before a big home game against Rogers Heritage. This is a team with some sleepers, and I think a few could be steals for a couple of lucky colleges. Keep an eye on these prospects, as they could see their stock rise if they put together a nice 2022 season. With that being said, here’s who you need to know!
ATH: Kain Pinto, 5’10” 170, SR
- A high motor to go with plenty of closing speed.
- Turns into a relentless pass rusher off the edge.
- Physical at the point of attack when taking on blocks.
- Reads his keys and gets downhill quickly.
DE: Kaden Spencer Kaden Spencer 6'3" | 250 lbs | DL Fayetteville | 2024 State AR , 6’3″ 250, JR
- A well-tuned five-technique with good bend.
- Spencer will get his hand up if he can’t bring down the quarterback and will look to take the ball out of the QB’s hand.
- He has a powerful bullrush in his toolbox.
- I think he could kick down inside at the next level based on his ability to hold up against the run & his god-given frame.
ATH: Za’Marion Manuel Za’Marion Manuel 5'10" | 150 lbs | ATH Springdale | 2023 State AR , 5’11” 155, SR
- Quite instinctive when reading route concepts.
- Shows proper makeup speed on defense when beat.
- Is a firm tackler when called upon to do so.
- What he may lack in size he makes up for in competitiveness.
OL: Giovanni Almaraz Giovanni Almaraz 6'1" | 305 lbs | OL Springdale | 2023 State AR , 6’3″ 315, SR
- Plays an aggressive form of ball and looks to finish off almost every block he initiates.
- Shows solid size for the guard position at the next level.
- Effort and hand placement are there.
- Knows how to catch opposing defensive linemen lunging at him.
ATH: Ta’Jon Sparks Ta’Jon Sparks 5'10" | 160 lbs | ATH Springdale | 2023 State AR , 5’10” 160, SR
- An explosive kid on either side of the ball who can simply make something happen.
- Impressive burst and acceleration once he touches the football.
- Is sticky in man coverage and can run stride for stride with the best of them.
- Has an uncanny ability to time up snap counts and block kicks rushing off the edge.
DB: Tryston Skelton, 5’11” 160, JR
- A physical tackler that is always looking for work around the box.
- Easily works his way off blocks out on the perimeter.
- Has totaled 20 tackles in just two games.
- Could be a core special teamer almost immediately based on his sheer will.
