South Granville v. Hillside – Defensive Standouts

Hillside was able to establish their dominance on defense and controlled the line of scrimmage throughout the game. The listed players performances caught my attention throughout the game.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>South Granville</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Antoine Doyle - LB, 6'0" 180</strong>. Antoine displayed good lateral movement and speed to cover a lot of ground quickly for stops. He displayed patience and let the play develop before reacting to close in on the ball carrier. Antoine finished the game with 9 tackles, 3 of the tackles were solo.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Brycen White - DE, 6'0" 215</strong>. Brycen displayed quickness out of his stance to make contact with blockers to control them while moving past for stops. He displayed good technique and use of hands to control blockers. Nehemiah displayed quickness out of his stance to make contact with blockers to control them while moving past for stops. He displayed good technique and use of hands to control blockers. Divon displayed good technique and footwork to control blockers while moving past for stops. He moves well in tight spaces to stop the inside running plays. Divon finished the game with 5 tackles. Matthew displayed good lateral movement and speed to close quickly in on the ball carrier for stops. He displayed patience to let the play develop and react quickly for stops. Jeremiah displayed good lateral movement and speed to close quickly in on the ball carrier for stops. He read the play and reacted quickly and displayed speed to cover a lot of ground for stops. Sterling displayed good technique and footwork to control blockers while moving past them for stops. He moves well in tight spaces to stop the inside running plays. Sterling moved up from the JV team for his debut on the varsity level. He had an impressive performance with 4 tackles, 1 of the tackles was for a loss.
