This year has started off the same way. There are some great RBs who are holding it down in the Magnolia State this year. Here are a few.
Will Smith, Ocean Springs, 2025
This guy is just a sophomore, but he is off to a great season. I knew when I saw him in their spring game in May that he was going to be doing big things this fall. This kid is fast and knows how to find space. He is a 4.5 guy that can change directions on a dime. With him and their QB in the backfield it makes it hard for their opponents to key in one guy. They both can hurt you with blazing speed. Smith is going to have a big name soon.
Charleston French Charleston French 5'9" | 195 lbs | RB Amory | 2023 State MS , Amory, 2023
Mr French has started off on a roll this season. This guy has been making defenders miss left and right. He is another guy that has some mean vision on the football field. He knows how to be patient with his offensive line, allowing their blocks to get set up. When he that happens he explodes through. I have seen him play some good teams and he always gets his yards. He is a guy that you want on your team.
Nick Thompson Nick Thompson 5'8" | 185 lbs | RB Jefferson Davis | 2023 State MS , JDC, 2023
This guy here is mean with the rock. He knows how to be tough when he is running the ball. This guy is like a bowling ball on the football field. He is always bouncing off of defenders getting yards after contact. He’s a bruiser when he is running the football and that is how he has started off this season. There is one play where he took a nice blow while giving a nice blow for a goal line touchdown. This guy is a mean fellow.
Nate Blount IV Nate Blount IV 5'11" | 220 lbs | RB Brandon | 2024 State MS , Brandon, 2024
This guy here reminds me of a new school Dontae Walker when he runs the football. If you remember that name and have seen Nate play then you know exactly what I mean. This guy here is also a bowling ball style runner. He will have you sore the next morning after taking bumps and bruises that he gives all night. In their victory against Madison Central Blount managed to accumulate more than 270 yards rushing. I was told that those were some hard earned yards he was getting. I can only imagine. I can’t wait to see him play this season.
Trevon Brown, South Delta
Here is yet another kid who has over 400 rushing yards already this season. I can definitely see him rushing for more than 1500 yards this season. Their offense is going to make sure that he stays active in their game plan. We all know they like to run that football. Keep up with his name.
Keenan Franks Keenan Franks 5'9" | 175 lbs | ATH Greene County | 2024 State MS , Greene County
This guy is very quick and elusive. He has rushed for over 100 yards in both games that they have played this season. Keenan is a guy that knows how to get his yards. He also has great hands out of the backfield. His speed is amazing and that’s what helps him be so great on offense. This will be a thousand yard rushing season for him.
