The game went back and forth all night long going down to the wire as Peotone gained momentum late in the 4th quarter closing the gap 21 to 13. Wilmington ended up answering back quickly with a score of their own to make it 28 to 13 with a few minutes left in the game. Peotone’s James Kuypers was at the helm of the Blue Devil’s offense driving them downfield until moving the chains to get them closer to scoring position. Pressure from Wilmington’s Hunter Hayes Hunter Hayes 5'10" | 200 lbs | DL Wilmington | 2023 State IL ended up forcing an errand throw that resulted in Colin James Colin James 5'7" | 150 lbs | RB Wilmington | 2023 State IL coming down with an interception. With only a few minutes left at this point, Wilmington picked up a first down before taking a knee to close out a 28 to 13 win against Peotone. Mr. Hayes has been on my radar for since time now and has continued to showcase why he’s a top defensive lineman in 2A football. Throughout the night he was able to slip blocks to disrupt plays in the backfield and came away with QB pressures on more than one occasion. In both clips below, you can see this young man making a play in crucial game situations on back-to-back plays late in the 4th quarter. In the first clip, he was able to secure the sack and in the second clip he generates pressure on the QB forcing the game-sealing INT by Colin James Colin James 5’7″ | 150 lbs | RB Wilmington | 2023 State IL . All in all, look for this young man to continue his performance so far this fall and for his stock to rise as a result. Twitter
Mr. James is a speedy back that has deadly foot quicks, if you don’t fill holes correctly you’re going to have a headache on your hands. On two of his touchdown runs, he broke them for six for runs over 40 yards each time. Don’t let his size confuse you either. He may be a short back but his ability to keep his feet driving through contact and run hard are equally as impressive. All in all, this young man is one to keep a very close eye on this fall. Joe Allgood
Joe Allgood
Mr. Allgood is a new name to me that caught my eye with his run blocking. His ability to fire out of his stance and deliver his strong punch at the point of attack is impressive. He can also get to 2nd level blocks to tie up the linebacker creating a lane for his teammate to hit. This young man also plays linebacker where he can shoot gaps to come away with the tackle for loss.
Brody Benson
Brody Benson
Mr. Benson is another new offensive lineman that’s now on my radar. Throughout the night, he was able to get a good push up front and work up to 2nd level blocks. He has a good frame standing at 6’4 and uses his range to latch onto defenders quickly when he blocks in-line. Working in a run heavy offensive scheme, look for this young man to capitalize on his current performance the rest of this fall season.
Brendan Moran
Brendan Moran
Continuing the trend of new names on my radar, we’re now looking at Mr. Moran. He had a good performance on the defensive side of the ball getting involved in run support heavily. So much so that he was triggering downhill quickly and shooting gaps all night to disrupt plays in the backfield as well as at the line of scrimmage. Talk about a run-stopping linebacker. If the run was going outside the tackle, this young man also flashed his ability to secure open field tackles on the perimeter for no gain as well. Overall, look for this young man to continue to make is impact felt on the defensive side of the ball.
Kade Hopwood
Kade Hopwood
Mr. Hopwood is another offensive lineman that the Wildcats have in their arsenal. This young man is physical at the point of attack when he’s pulling. When he does so, he can jolt the defender upright and drive the defender back creating a lane for his teammate to hit. The physicality that he showcased caught my eye during this matchup and is a trait to watch the rest of this fall season.
Kyle Farrell
Kyle Farrell
Finishing off with new Wildcats, Mr. Farrell had quite the performance as well. Not only does he have foot quicks to him to get in/out of the hole quickly, he also has the lateral quickness to turn the corner. In the clip below, you can see his ability to break long runs right before he gets tackles inside the five. On the very next play he takes the handoff and gets into the endzone for six. Mr. Farrell is going to be a name we hear a lot of over these next few seasons, his future is bright as a Wildcat ball carrier.
Honorable Mention
