“It feels good to get a win,” said Coby. “Our plan all week was to come in and run the ball and we did that. Almost with no turnovers.”
When I arrived the score was already 7-0 in Nettleton’s favor. Saltillo had a fumble that was recovered by Nettleton and Bray would take it in for an easy score on the first play after. They struck fast and had their crowd rocking the visitor side stands. We were in for a good one.
Nettleton had a 4th and very very long they converted on, late in the first quarter. Braylen Williams dropped back rolled to the right and threw a missile deep in the top corner of the end zone. The PAT was good and they were up 14-0. It seemed like things may have gotten out of hand for a little bit.
Saltillo made it their business to respond. It was late in the first-half and their QB found their receiver for a 40 yard touchdown. The PAT was good. We were going into halftime with a more decent game than it started. That’s what I came to see.
Braylen Williams started out hot when the second half would return. He hit his receiver number 13 on the money in the corner of the end zone for a nice touchdown. The Nettleton sideline was back making a lot of noise like they were to start off this game.

“He’s our guy offensively and defensively,” said Coach Finch. “We gotta get the ball in his hands and we gotta make sure he’s on the field. I felt like we out physically out played them tonight. They’ve played a couple of games, but last week they didn’t have to play very hard and had a blowout.”
Nettleton wasn’t quite done yet. After a nice drive Braylen Williams hit Pedigree in the endzone for six. The PAT was no good. They were in the lead 27-22. It was time for the ball to go back to Saltillo.

Nettleton tried to make it work. Their guys stripped the football from Coby at the end of the game and had the ball back. After four plays and a dropped pass it was over. Saltillo had won the game.
“We’ve been in some tough games so far,” said Coach Finch. “I felt like our physicality showed that. Our kids understand that we believe in them. We preach to them that if something goes wrong, something bad happens then brush it off and go to the next play. We can’t live in the past we gotta move forward, just don’t let it happen again. That’s what we did tonight.”
