Midseason Checkup: Stellar Seniors thru Week 5

We are starting to see some real playmakers emerge after the fifth week of the season. From El Paso to Beaumont and Corpus Christi to Lubbock, seniors are working their way onto recruiting boards, thanks to incredible early season Friday night performances.

In this article, we will check in with some talented players around the state - three of whom don't yet have any offers, but hope to in the coming weeks. One such player is Trevor Cabell, a hard-working offensive lineman in Dallas who plays with a mean streak. Smaller colleges should take notice, because he's a good one that will provide instant value.

OL Trevor Cabell – 6'2″ 290 / Hillcrest HS — @TrevorCabell

Cabell is the starting left tackle for the Panthers, but will need to slide inside when he gets to college. A physical run blocker, he has the potential to be an anchor for a smaller program that likes to run the football. Hillcrest has put up some impressive numbers on the ground through Week 5, and Cabell is a key reason why.

WR Cory O'Bryant – 6'0″ 170 / Tomball Memorial HS — @CoryOBryant1

Thru 4 Games: 451 yards and 9 touchdowns

O'Bryant is a big play waiting to happen. The senior playmaker had a quiet game Friday night - 2 receptions, 46 yards, 1 touchdown - but it's hard to deny what Cory brings to the table. He can burn just about any corner with pure speed, has the hands to come down with any ball thrown his way, and he adds value as a kick returner. We'll have another opportunity to see O'Bryant at his best this coming Friday, September 30th, as his Wildcats take on Klein Forest.

WR Thad Hinds – 6'4″ 180 / Brownwood HS — @ThadHinds8

Week 5: 92 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns

Hinds is having an exceptional season for the Lions. With sticky hands and a large catch radius, he's a matchup nightmare for opposing corners. His recruiting hasn't taken off yet, but colleges will surely take note during the second half of the season. Will be a fantastic pickup for a smaller program that wants a big receiver who has the potential to dominate in the red zone.

LB [player_tooltip player_id='258701' first='Jadon' last='Ducos'] – 5'11″ 210 / Atascocita HS — @JadonDucoss

Ducos is a spark plug who will always be around the football. Size will be an issue for a lot of programs, but Jadon will surely find a home for a quality smaller program that's looking for a defensive playmaker who flies around the field. Already has a handful of Division 3 offers, and you can be sure more are forthcoming.
