Texas football is the best around and has the best athletes in the whole country. In the big state of Texas Houston is the biggest city that houses the best sum of athletes in Texas. In a two-part article, I'll be discussing the top 10 class of 2023 football athletes in Houston, TX.

#5 Friendswood [player_tooltip player_id='258694' first='Braylan' last='Shelby'] LB 6'5 235 lbs TX #30 Nat #156

1st team all-district outside linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='258694' first='Braylan' last='Shelby'] is not to be messed with. Braylan is just a solid, massive and tough athlete I would not want to be blocking or running the ball near him. Braylan would bulldoze anyone in front of him and deflect any pass going over him. One play from last season where Braylan drove the blocker into the quarterback was a sight to behold. With Braylan's size, physique, and agility he could do practically anything and everything on the field. Braylan is a top college prospect catching the attention of numerous amount of colleges and universities, but the one he chose to commit to was the University of Southern California. Braylan's stats last season were 8 sacks, 12 TFL, 1 Int, 77 total tackles, and 1 touchdown.

#4 Kinkaid High School [player_tooltip player_id='136194' first='Micah' last='Bell'] 5'11 170 lbs CB, RB TX #11 Nat #65

[player_tooltip player_id='136194' first='Micah' last='Bell'] doubled as a running back and cornerback for The Kinkaid Falcons. Micah is incredibly athletic being strong, fast, quick, and a very hard hitter. Micah was always able to transition between positions playing aggressively on both offense and defense. Micah is a top college prospect catching the attention of numerous amount of colleges and universities, but the one he chose to commit to was the University of Notre Dame. Micah's stats last season on offense was 134 carries, 1120 rushing yards, and 9 touchdowns and on defense, he had 20 overall tackles.

#3 Eisenhower High School [player_tooltip player_id='375356' first='Ryan' last='Niblett'] WR, QB 5'10 170 lbs TX #8 Nat #57

[player_tooltip player_id='375356' first='Ryan' last='Niblett'] is an exceptionally fast player and can play any skilled position on the offensive side of the ball. It didn't matter what position Ryan was at if he touched the ball he is a threat. Ryan zoomed past the competition and there was no catching up to him. Ryan was even able to play as safety make a big hit, intercept the ball and run it in for a pick-six. Ryan shines on Eisenhower even though last season they were 3-8 he was still able to make a name for himself. Ryan is a top college prospect catching the attention of numerous amount of colleges and universities, but the one he chose to commit to was the University of Texas.

#2 Langham Creek [player_tooltip player_id='122021' first='Jaquaize' last='Pettaway'] WR 5'11 170 lbs TX #5 Nat #40

[player_tooltip player_id='122021' first='Jaquaize' last='Pettaway'] is one of the fastest people in Texas and probably the fastest in Houston. Jaquaize couldn't be touched no one he played against could match his speed. Jaquaize strongest trait was running the ball wide and hugging the out-of-bound line and going to the end-zone. Jaquaize is a top college prospect catching the attention of numerous amount of colleges and universities, but the one he chose to commit to was the University of Oklahoma.

#1. Paetow High School [player_tooltip player_id='60868' first='David' last='Hicks'] DE 6'4 270 lbs TX #1 Nat #12

Not only is David Hick the ideal size for a defensive end he is also quick off the ball, agile, versatile, and possesses great athletic ability. [player_tooltip player_id='60868' first='David' last='Hicks'] was killing it last season while playing for Allen High School in Allen, TX. However, now David will be playing for Paetow this season they won the 5A championship last season. David is the perfect defensive end he attacks the edge, using his power and speed to break through any obstacle in his way to make the play. Being such a great athlete David is a top college prospect catching the attention of numerous amount of colleges and universities, but the one he chose to commit to was the University of Oklahoma. David ended last season with Allen 88 total tackles, 22 TFL, and 13 sacks.
