Hough – EDGE Branden Palmer Branden Palmer 6'4" | 205 lbs | DL Hough | 2023 State NC – Palmer has a lot of Division 1 offers and interest from multiple schools, and in this game, he showed why. Palmer has a lean and long frame and is the kind of edge player that colleges love to add weight to and develop. He was very fast off the edge in the pass rush game, and he forced Bubba Camp to scramble and move up in the pocket on multiple occasions, and he was the cause of several sacks on the night for the Huskies’ defense. #0 in the highlights, you can check him out in the full game highlights here
Chambers – DL Zairion Jackson-Bass Zairion Jackson-Bass 6'2" | 245 lbs | DL Julius L Chambers | 2023 State NC – Jackson-Bass entered the game as one of the leading sack masters in the entire state of North Carolina, with 11 so far on the season. He added at least two more sacks to his total in this one, providing pressure both from the edge and in the interior of the defense. Zairion added weight in the offseason and it has enhanced his game in a great way. He is committed to Yale and I think they got one heck of a player and a young man. Make sure to watch for #44 in the above game highlights.
Hough – DB Xavier McIntyre – There were a lot of great performances by Husky players, but McIntyre got the assignment to match up with dynamic Chambers wide receiver Kevin Concepcion Kevin Concepcion 5'11" | 165 lbs | WR Chambers | 2023 State NC , committed to NC State. While Concepcion had a couple of catches, McIntyre also had a couple of pass breakups and definitely did not appear that he was afraid of the challenge of covering Concepcion in man-to-man coverage. I think he showed very well and I hope he builds on a nice overall performance.
Hough – LB Anthony Walker – I was used to seeing Walker in his previous #42 that when he was making plays all over the field as #3, I had to go and check the roster and then it made sense. Walker is one of the many dynamic players Hough has at the linebacker position, and when Walker lined up to come off the edge – often on the same side as Palmer – it really gave the Chambers offense some fits in trying to block that duo coming for the quarterback. Walker ended up with multiple sacks on the night, and I interviewed him after a game last year and he has the confidence to be a special player on the next level.
