This game has been back and forth for years. In the last 5 years this matchup has gone both ways with the Knights dominating from 2017-2020. 2017 Southeast 26 East 6, 2018 Southeast 14 East 12, 2019 Southeast 28 East 6, 2020 Southeast 24 East 14, 2021 Southeast 10 East 47. East coming out and dominating last year really added to last Fridays matchup and you can see the passion to win.
You would have thought this game was over if you were there watching it. Both teams ran the ball extremely well in the first quarter and both defenses held strong leading to a scoreless first quarter. The second quarter was dominated by The knights with a mixed rushing and passing game. QB Owen Baxter Owen Baxter QB Lincoln Southeast | 2024 State NE and RB Max Buettenback Max Buettenback 6'1" | 195 lbs | RB Lincoln Southeast | 2023 State NE helped push the Knights to go up before half Owen had a passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown to go up 14. During halftime something had awoken in the Spartans and QB Jeter Worthley went off rushing for a touchdown to get East back into the game. Worthley showed the power of a dual threat quarterback and showed his strength as a leader rallying in the 4th quarter. The Spartans defense held strong leading to a huge throw and an option touchdown tying the game 14-14. Lincoln Southeast would get the ball back and then their worst nightmare happened. Caden Cetak Caden Cetak 6'4" | 220 lbs | DL Lincoln East | 2024 State NE and Ethan Harris tackled Max Buettenback Max Buettenback 6'1" | 195 lbs | RB Lincoln Southeast | 2023 State NE knocking the ball free for Will Potratz scooping it up. This would lead to a Jeter Worthely run up the middle to score a touchdown. With 1:28 left in the game Lincoln East would go up 21-14. Lincoln East had one final chance to set up a score, they lined up for a QB sneak on 4th and 1 but the snap was mishandled. Lincoln East would fumble it giving it back to the Spartans to end the game with the final score 21-14.

Jeter was one of the biggest cogs in the Spartan machine on Friday, He had 18/32 on completions for 200 yards. What was also impressive was his 100 yards rushing. he averaged 4.5 yards a carry and scored all 3 touchdowns for Lincoln East.

CB Will Potratz
Will was a key part of the victory against the Knights. He had 9 total tackles 7 of which were solo tackles 2 were assists. Along with that Will had the game deciding fumble recovery that lead to the game winning touchdown.

QB Owen Baxter Owen Baxter QB Lincoln Southeast | 2024 State NE
Owen had a solid game completing 65% of his passes for 145 total yards for an average of 9.7 yards per throw and a Touchdown. On the ground Baxter had 19 carries for 47 yards and another touchdown. His skills did a lot of good for the Knights and kept them competitive in the game.
