Which seniors are having breakout seasons so far?
Prep Redzone takes a look…
Fabian Walker – Chamblee
There’s a new quarterback to know in Atlanta, and it’s the senior gunslinger at Chamblee. After a fantastic junior season where he threw for 2,275 yards and 32 touchdowns, Walker has started his senior year right where he left off. In week one against Towers, leading Chamblee to a big 58-0 win, Walker was an efficient 17/22 for 272 yards and 5 touchdowns. In a week two win over Dunwoody, Walker threw for over 200 yards and tossed three more touchdowns. On the season, he’s now thrown for just under 500 yards with 8 TDs and 0 INTs. He’s smart with the football and has shown impressive accuracy so far, completing 69% of his passes through his first two games. He’s an under the radar quarterback to know with decent size at 6-foot-1 185-pounds. He’s off to a terrific year and should only see his stock increse as the season moves along.
Jack Cendoya – Mount Pisgah Christian
Up in Johns Creek is where you’ll find one of the more efficient senior QBs in Fulton County so far this year. Cendoya, a dual-threat QB with good size at 6-foot-1 185-pounds is a fantastic athlete who can beat defenses with both his arms and his legs. He may not play against the best competition, but Cendoya has done everything asked of him so far this year and has his Mount Pisgah Christian team off to a strong 3-0 start to the season. He started the year off to a big start with 282 yards passing and two touchdowns along with 51 yards rushing and another touchdown. In week two, Cendoya threw for 325 yards and 4 touchdowns while adding 200 rushing yards and two more touchdowns. Last weekend, the senior threw for just under 300 yards and 3 touchdown passes to go along with 26 rushing yards and another touchdown. He’s dynamic, quick, and plays the position the way it’s supposed to be played. Look for the dynamic quarterback to continue lighting up defenses throughout the year.
Michael Sheehan – Collins Hill
While he hasn’t exactly lit up the stat sheet so far this season, the Collins Hill senior has done an excellent job filling in for last year’s starter Sam Horn, leading the Eagles to a fast 2-0 start to the season. It’s been Collins Hill’s defense that has led the way so far, but the play of Sheehan can’t be overlooked. He’s a smart, efficient quarterback with leadership skills, and he came up big last weekend in a massive win over Brookwood. The Broncos are an impressive program, and Sheehan stepped up big when it mattered most, tossing two touchdowns in the big win. He also showed he can make plays with is feet, rushing for 71 yards in the victory. Through his first two games of the season, Sheehan has throws for over 300 yards and four touchdowns while rushing for over 120 yards. If he continues to improve week by week, Collins Hill could make a lot of noise once again down the stretch and in the 7A playoffs.
Geimere Latimer Geimere Latimer 5'10" | 175 lbs | QB Sandy Creek | 2023 State GA – Sandy Creek
Another dynamic quarterback from the Atlanta area, Latimer is coming off a terrific junior season where he was named Region 5-3A Player of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, 1st Team All State in 2021. He’s off to another fantastic start this season and has made play after play with both his arms and his legs so far this season. Through three games as a passer, Latimer has thrown for 794 yards and 12 touchdowns so far. As a runner, he’s rushed for 146 yards and three touchdowns. He may lack some size to play QB at the next level, but he’s been sharp and very productive so far this season. He has a knack for making plays and will have defenses sweating throughout the season.
