Syracuse Titans
The Titans started the season 0-2 and have since gone on to win five straight games. Syracuses first two loss came against Riverton, who’s proven they can play with and beat anyone. As well as Brighton one of our top 10 teams in 5A. Since those losses the Titans have scored over 41 points in four of those five wins. Syracuse’s defense has also been strong as they have only allowed one team to score more than 14 points since those first two games. Running back Kobe Bennet is relentless in his carries while safety Daxton Faddis Daxton Faddis 5'11" | 200 lbs | DB Syracuse | 2023 State UT counties to be sensational for the Titans defense. Syracuse dominance could lead to a few upsets come playoff time.
Layton Lancers
The Lancers started out the season 3-0 but then dropped their next three games. The latter for those three losses came against one of the only remaining undefeated teams in the state, the Farmington Phoenix. Layton provide they can play with anyone and has scored more than 37 points three times this season. The Lancers have two strong running backs in Porter Cannon and Braxton Martin, with the later having over 460 rushing yards. Defensive linemen Eli Tanuvasa and Jesse Chatelaine have combined for 9 sacks to lead the defense. Layton has a chance to finish the regular season strong and reach six wins.
Riverton Silverwolves
The Silverowlves are 4-3 but two of those losses came against teams in our 6A top team. two of those four wins include victories over the Syracuse Titans and Springville Red Devis. Riverton has scored more than 20 points in five off their seven games and has held their opponents under 20 in four of of those. Region 3 is very formable this year with three teams in the top 10 and thats not even including this formidable Riverton team. The Silverwolves still have to play two of those teams in the Mountain Ridge Sentinels and Bingham Miners with both those games occurring in the final two weeks of the regular season. Running back Easton Hicks leads the offense while defensive back Jai Parker excels in the secondary.
Granger Lancers
The second Lancers to appear on this list, Granger is 4-2 and currently outscoring their opponents by nearly 100 points on the season. Granger nearly upset Mountain Ridge earlier in the season proving they can hang with some of the top teams in the state. The Lancers have won their last three games and could carry that momentum all the way into their big final matchup of the regular season when they take on the reigning Region 2 champion West Panthers. In those three games they have scored 115 points and appear to be finding a rhythm on offense at the right time. Wide receiver Landon Figueroa has over 400 yards while the dense is led by linebacker Mauka Bernard’s nose for the football.
