Devean Shearer
Devean Shearer
Mr. Shearer can close quickly on the ball carrier and triggers downhill quickly in close space to meet the ball carrier in the hole. This was my first time seeing this young man perform and I’m glad I did. His ability to make his presence felt in both defensive attacks is one to watch. When he comes on a blitz, he can penetrate the backfield generating pressure on the quarterback and flushing him out of the pocket. Keep an eye on this young man the rest of this fall season as he’s one part of an impactful linebacker core. Twitter
Gavin Rabe
Gavin Rabe
Mr. Rabe is the 2nd part of this impactful linebacker core working as an outside linebacker. What stands out about this young man is his ability to come off the edge blitz getting clean shots on the QB – so much so he forced a fumble in Friday night’s game after he beat the offensive tackle to the turn point. He can also cover sideline to sideline in the flat, plug gaps in run support, and disrupt plays in the backfield off the penetration he gets at the snap of the ball. Be sure to keep an eye on how he continues to produce this fall season as he’s off to a good start. Twitter
Mr. Barrett is one of the top players we have in the state for the Class of 23′ at offensive tackle. His dominance at the point of attack is one to keep an eye on as he can latch onto the defender quickly and drive his legs through the whistle. This results in him either putting defenders into the dirt or driving the defender 5+ yards downfield. Let’s not forget his dominance when it comes to kicking out the defensive end creating an alley for his halfback to hit. The Indiana University commit also had himself a showing on defense as a defensive tackle working out of a 1 tech. Twitter
Highlights
Bodey McCaslin
Bodey McCaslin
Mr. McCaslin holds down the other side of the O-Line at offensive tackle. This young man resembles Mr. Barrett’s skillset well on both sides of the ball at just one-inch shorter. His ability to tie up the rushing defender at the point of attack to keep the pocket clean for his quarterback is impressive to say the least and his aggressiveness comes to light during his run blocking. On defense, he can work either as a 7 tech or 1 tech where he can shoot gaps to disrupt plays in run support. What stands out the most about this young man is how quick he gets out of his stance and set to block. This comes in handy as he can control most of the reps against the defensive lineman when doing so. Overall, he currently holds a handful of offers across the D1 landscape (G5, FCS) and has P5 interest as well. Safe to say he’s going to be a name you’ll hear a lot of over these next two seasons. Trent Matejko
Trent Matejko
Mr. Matejko had himself a showing Friday night taking snaps out of the backfield. His ability to find cutback lanes if the frontside lane is clogged is impressive to say the least. What stands out the most about this young man is his ability to keep his feet driving through contact to break weak grab tackles and finish through the whistle. This young man is one heck of a hard runner and also flashed his ability to break long runs as a result. Overall, keep a close eye on this young man the rest of the season as I’m definitely going to. Lane Robinson
Lane Robinson
Mr. Robinson is a new name to me this fall season and that’s what it’s all about, finding new young men to highlight in the State of IL. This young man has legs to him and showcased his mobility Friday night putting extra stress on the opposing defense. So much so that if the defense ended up covering defenders downfield Mr. Robinson would pull the ball down to scrmable to keep the chains moving. Switching to his passing ability, he did flash his ability to add a touch on deep shots downfield having one go for 6. Twitter
Parker Radler
Parker Radler
Mr. Radler can generate pressure on the opposing QB with his speed rush which he uses to beat the offensive tackle to the turn point. The biggest trait this young man has is his ability to close quickly to deliver hits on either the ball carrier or the receiver making a play on the ball. He also came away with a fumble recovery for 6 in Friday night’s matchup as well. Another young man that’s new to my radar and one to keep an eye on this fall. Twitter
Mr. Schuette is a young man that I was interested to see how he would produce this fall season and he’s off to a great start. This young man had a KOR TD where he showcased his foot quicks once he found the alley and once he did he was off to the races. Working on the outside, he showcased his ability to be a deep threat over the top and go up for contested catches on 50/50 balls. Currently holds an offer from Roosevelt University and Grinnell College. Twitter
Mr. Tousignant is a young man that’s been on my radar for some time now and I’m happy to have reviewed a full game film of him to truly see how consistent he can be. This young man and Mr. Schuette are what I would call a 1-2 punch as they’re both threats you have to gameplan against in the air attack. Specifically, with Mr. Tousignant, he tracks the ball well on deep shots downfield. Once he secures the catch, he can then use his foot quicks to break a long run in the process for a big gain on the play. So much so that in one instance he ended up getting in the endzone for six. Most recently he picked up an Offer from Southwest Minnesota State University back in July, I’d be surprised if more don’t come his way after this fall season. Twitter
