McClure is the best of the super talented receiving corps at Mater Dei Catholic. He had nearly 1,000 yards receiving and eight touchdowns for an undefeated Mater Dei Catholic team as a junior. Arizona was his first official visit and he plans on taking more official visits in the fall before making a commitment decision. Indiana, UCLA, Utah and Washington are still talking with him with Indiana being his latest offer that intrigues him. McClure has been to UCLA and Washington but has not taken an unofficial to Utah yet. Expect a commitment date close to signing day with McClure.
Levi Sua Levi Sua 6'2" | 225 lbs | LB Mater Dei | 2023 State CA , LB, Mater Dei
Sua is my favorite linebacker in the 2023 class that I’ve seen in person. He is an elite run stopper and covers the pass better than most high school inside linebackers. He was the best linebacker at the Under Armour Next All-American camp this spring and it was a loaded field. Sua recently took an unofficial visit to Louisville and official visits to Arizona and Stanford. Stanford and Arizona are loaded with former Mater Dei players that Sua was close to on campus like David Bailey David Bailey 6'3" | 220 lbs | LB Mater Dei | 2022 State CA and Jacob Kongaika Jacob Kongaika 6'3" | 270 lbs | DL Mater Dei | 2022 State CA . Oregon State, UCLA and Washington are still in the conversation but are just a bit behind those top three right now. Sua is a high-academic guy and hasn’t really hinted on where he is headed.
Blake Nichelson Blake Nichelson 6'3" | 200 lbs | LB Manteca | 2023 State CA , LB, Manteca
Nichelson had a final three set but Wisconsin offered late and he wants to take a visit there this fall before making a decision. Despite Wisconsin entering the contest, people still expect Oregon and Florida State to be his top two schools with UCLA still having an outside chance. Florida State was his last unofficial visit in July and Greg Biggins of 247Sports considers them the favorite right now. Expect a late fall or close to singing day commitment for Nichelson.
Rodrick Pleasant Rodrick Pleasant 5'11" | 180 lbs | DB Serra | 2023 State CA , DB, Serra
Pleasant is the fastest high schooler in the state with a 100 meter time of 10.14. His recruitment blew up this summer after he ran that time in June. Pleasant has 27 offers with a top four of Boston College, Oregon, Penn State and USC. He officially visited Boston College in June and will officially visit Cal (Oct. 22) and Oregon (Nov. 19). Biggins expects Penn State and USC to get his last two official visits and UCLA to get an unofficial because they are local. Pleasant will also run track in college which makes Oregon and USC front runners because they have excellent track programs.
Matayo Uiagalelei Matayo Uiagalelei 6'5" | 265 lbs | DL St. John Bosco | 2023 State CA , DE, St. John Bosco
Uiagalelei has been among the top of the recruiting class since his freshman year and is the top uncommitted player in the state. Ohio State, Oregon and USC are expected to be his final three and he visited all three recently. Alabama and Louisville may get visits in the fall which makes sense because a handful of his Bosco teammates are committed to Louisville. Uiagalelei is a two-way guy but will likely be a defensive end at the next level. His brother DJ Uiagalelei is the quarterback at Clemson. Ohio State is the expected front runner because of his relationship with defensive line coach Larry Johnson and he likes the way Ohio State develops NFL talent on defense. But USC is close to home and they are doing an excellent job recruiting in Southern California.
