The weather was a lot cooler than the night before, which led to a lot of good performances and a lot of energy from the SMSU coaching staff. There were a little more campers that attended the second day and there were a couple that stood out throughout the day.
Aberdeen Central RB- Austin Erickson was having a great day throughout the whole camp. He was testing well , attacked all the drills in the ‘county fair’ and was showing his talent in competitions. I liked the way he used each rep to show something different in his game. He showed a great burst of speed and power, but then snuck up on you with how agile he was. He hit the spin move many times in competition and used it effectively each time. He ran good routes out of the backfield and flashed his hands as well.
Worthington RB/LB- Nasim Zeidi Nasim Zeidi 6'0" | 210 lbs | RB Worthington | 2023 MN impressed me with the amount of improvement I’ve seen from him since last season. He has a lot of raw talent that he was figuring out and putting together in this camp. I like his lateral movements and straight line speed. He also showed good instincts in pass coverage and took good angles to make tackles. He was very physical in all the run-defense drills in camp.
Pequot Lakes QB- Grant Loge Grant Loge 6'5" | 185 lbs | QB Pequot Lakes | 2023 State MN stood out as one of the taller campers, but also displayed some arm talent as well a lot of good improvement from beginning to the end of camp. He started off a little wild with his passes, but by the end of camp he was zipping some good passes to his receivers. He really improved on his planting and throwing side of his game and that made him more accurate as a passer. He also showed some good footwork and had some good timing and velocity on his passes.
Maple Grove DB- Jacob Anderson Jacob Anderson 6'0" | 175 lbs | ATH Maple Grove | 2023 State MN had a good day in competitions. He was very physical in the run defense portion, shedding blocks quickly and putting himself in good position to makes plays on the ballcarrier. In pass defense, he kept good position to make plays on the ball and would not get flagged. He ran step-for-step with the receiver on vertical routes and broke well on the ball on the short routes as well.
Worthington OL- Anthony Linder stood out to start camp with his size. He showed he could move in his 40 yard dash with an impressive time for a man that size. Once they broke off into position groups, I saw a lot of improvement from the beginning to end. He really improved his footwork moving laterally as well as his pad level and hand technique. He also showed his awareness in pass blocking on where to push the defender.
