Small Town Football Games of the Week

Today marks weekly <em>meaningful </em>football until the Super Bowl concludes. Now, let's check out a few tremendous small-town matchups! </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>West Catholic @ Edwardsburg</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Phew! This is a great matchup. These are two championship contenders at the D6/D4 level. West Catholic comes into this season with the #1 RB in Division 6 with [player_tooltip player_id='159621' first='Timmy' last='Kloska'], also with a proven linebacker core/secondary. Edwardsburg, on the other hand, has a similarly dominant run game with a great offensive line with <a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/11776156">Brett Allen</a>, <a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/13103211">[player_tooltip player_id='300672' first='Steven' last='Anders']</a>, <a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/10169702">Will Jacobson</a>, <a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/10187713">Brennen Brady-Brittain</a>. Expect this to be a physical battle in the trenches and an early game against two playoff locks. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Watervliet @ Brandywine </strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>These are two programs with promising senior talent looking to level up from last season. Brandywine RB <a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/10364616">Michael Palmer</a> is a quick back that can make a lot happen in the open field, while TE <a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/10373835">Owen Hullett</a> is a game-changer in the passing game. Watervliet, on the other hand, has a ton of speed and is led by rising senior DT <a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/12588639">[player_tooltip player_id='30349' first='Royce' last='Daugherty']</a> and 6'5" QB <a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/12642625">[player_tooltip player_id='300728' first='Tyson' last='Williams']</a>. This is a great measuring stick game for both teams. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Ubly @ Bax Axe</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Two more contenders from Divisions 7 &amp; 8, Ubly vs. Bad Axe is a great week 1 test for both programs. These teams met in the final week of the 2021 regular season, and Ulby came away with the 25-13 victory. Although Ubly had gone to Ford Field last season, they lost a few amazing seniors, while Bad Axe has an impressive senior class.
