Current Offers: SyracusernThe 6’2, 210-pound Neumann Gorreti standout and former StockUp camp Top Performer takes the top spot as the best linebacker that has yet to commit thus far. A top 50 prospect, Samuel Hobbs Samuel Hobbs 6’1″ | 210 lbs | LB Neumann-Goretti | 2023 State PA exemplifies what you’re looking for at outside linebacker. Athletic, quick-twitched, balanced, lateral agility, you name it, Hobbs was one of the better combine testers we saw at either Prep Redzone camp this year. Syracuse pulled the trigger on Hobbs, finally lifting him off my annual unoffered pieces. Another legit year at NG, more programs could begin to reach out.
Current Offers: Marist, rnFBS talent that is getting interest from the FCS level, strictly because of his size. Can’t convince me that Werner isn’t capable of playing at the FBS level, none of that matters right now. Werner is finally gaining traction with D1 schools, 81 tackles, and 12 TFLs will help his cause. Another productive season should help ease weary programs from sending in letters. The Marist offer is an awesome step in the right direction.
Current Offers: Temple, rnSomehow, a 6’1 linebacker with an offer out of Temple is flying under the radar. A top 100 prospect at that. Khadir Rowe Khadir Rowe 6’1″ | 225 lbs | LB Northeast | 2023 State PA has had a fluctuating situation, now at his third program in as many years. All Rowe needs is reps on the field, he will show off what he is capable of. Reps should come in a reloaded Northeast defense full of talent at damn near every position. I hope Rowe reaps the rewards and flies to the football all Fall long. The young man is a perfect fit for Temple and would potentially add some attitude to its current LB class.
Highlights
Current Offers: Notre Dame College, Saint Francis, Akron, rn Roderick Jeter Roderick Jeter 6’0″ | 200 lbs | LB Westinghouse | 2023 State PA might have a case to be placed much higher on this list. Jeter still cracked the top 100, his tape alone is worthy of the notion. Jeter who is a bit of a tweener, can provide both linebacker and box-safety reps. The kid’s frame is chiseled out, yet he still sits under 200 pounds, so a projection to defensive back at the next level isn’t necessarily out of the question. Jeter stands as one of the best linebackers left unsigned in Western Pennsylvania.
Current Offers: Notre Dame College, Duquesne, Saint Francis, rnThe second western Pennsylvania prospect on the list, Daniel Tarabrella Daniel Tarabrella 6’3″ | 210 lbs | LB Penn-Trafford | 2023 State PA has finally seen his recruitment spike in the right direction, securing two FCS offers and one high D2 offer, all three coming this summer. There’s a lot to like from both a measurable standpoint and a film perspective. Greene and Enick stand out as FBS players on the championship Penn-Trafford program. After this Fall, Tarabrella could put his name in that same conversation. If you’re looking for a 6’3, OLB who can move like a wideout, check out Daniel Tarabrella Daniel Tarabrella 6’3″ | 210 lbs | LB Penn-Trafford | 2023 State PA .
Current Offers: Georgetownrn6’4, 225 pounds, 3.94 GPA. All numbers you love to see. Instincts have him best suited to play middle linebacker. Enough lateral agility to make plays ahead of the ball carrier. Real chance he could be moved to tight end at the next level, although I prefer him to stay manning the middle of the front seven. Well-seasoned run-stopper in a well-seasoned program that seems to have a collegiate player at every position. Mears has a top 10 linebacker rank in his future.
Current Offers: Saint Francis,rnLike many on this list, I am very happy to say I won’t include Luke Trunell Luke Trunell 6’3″ | 225 lbs | LB Conwell-Egan | 2023 State PA ‘s name in any unoffered pieces moving forward. A great thing to type out. Since coming across his tape, I have clamored for FCS schools to get in on Trunell. Recruitment has seen an uptick for the Conwell-Egan senior. More is to be had, however. I can guarantee many at the FCS level are awaiting his weekly tapes, to see if the potential growth has presented itself on the field in 2022.
Current Offers: Bowling GreenrnI will make the case here that Roman Catholic’s Jason Patterson Jason Patterson 6’3″ | 230 lbs | LB Roman Catholic | 2023 State PA is ranked too low on our list. Reasons, his position, and alignment versatility. This goes for the entirety of his entire career. We can’t forget how excited we were to see Patterson the quarterback at Bonner & Prendie. Now we get a chance to see the 6’4, 230-pound man both contain the run as a linebacker and rush the passer a bit around the edge if need be. I am sure this kid could play tight end if called upon to do so. Bowling Green believes in him, and I’m positive they have plans for him beyond what his HS tape displays, Off pure versatility alone, Patterson acts as one of the best prospects left unsigned in Eastern Pennsylvania.
Current Offers: Southeast Missouri StaternAgain, another prospect I can officially take off my unoffered list, something I am always happy to do. A NEPSAC prospect, Jefferson Desca Jefferson Desca 6’0″ | 220 lbs | LB Kiski Area | 2023 PA ‘s tape received an FCS-ceiling grade out of me. That grade has been reciprocated with an FCS offer out of Southeast Missouri State just over a month ago. I am surprised to see the Bryants and Bucknells of the world not pull the trigger yet. A stellar senior campaign will resolve all possible issues.
Current Offers: Waynesburg, WheelingrnHere’s a prospect, whether you want to call him a future running back or linebacker, who didn’t let his size stop him from securing college offers. Usually, prospects struggle to get programs to send letters if there are real size concerns. It goes to show how talented Amere Hibbler Amere Hibbler 5’8″ | 180 lbs | LB Sto-Rox | 2023 State PA is on both sides of the ball, making two solid D2 programs believe that his skillset is worthy of a roster spot. Hibbler is a great example for those who are struggling to gain college interest because of height deficiencies. His 3.6 GPA certainly helps his cause. I hope to see this kid ball in person sometime this Fall.
