Aberdeen Central High School
Aberdeen Central has had their fair share of issues that they have experienced the past few years but it seems as if they have hit the light at the end of the tunnel with the talent that they have devolved with their players. Aberdeen’s biggest strength without a doubt is their defense and how much they can do with a few talented players with immense talent. The defensive back position is where they seem to have the most depth and also the most talent, with Aiden Heimann Aiden Heimann 5'11" | 155 lbs | DB Aberdeen Central | 2023 State and Mason Schrempp being a great cornerback duo with a similar skillset that bodes well for their team. Both of the corners work very well in a general press coverage scenario and can adapt to the offensive player they are facing. They are an anchor for a team that has a great defensive front with Brian Johnson Brian Johnson 6'2" | 240 lbs | DL Aberdeen Central | 2023 State leading the front defensive line he is a run stopper and can provide a great pass rush to pressure the quarterback at an excellent rate. On offense, their receiving core is what gives them options and deadliness when it comes to creating versatility. Spencer Barr leads the core with his route running, height, and athleticism, leading Aberdeen as what seems to be one of their top offensive players on the team. Aberdeen is hoping to achieve a better record than what they had managed last year and seems to have the pieces to put that in place. With the chemistry and the natural talent that they possess, it will be hard to see a world where they do not have a better record than last year and this game can get them off to the start that they need.
Pierre T.F. Riggs High School
Pierre is looking locked and loaded to get this year off with a bang and the talent that they have on their roaster is simply no joke at all. Their offensive talent has some of the best that South Dakota has to offer with stars at nearly all of the major offensive positions. With Lincoln Kienholz Lincoln Kienholz 6'3" | 185 lbs | QB Pierre | 2023 State being the man leading the offense, you know that you are bound to have success. Kienholz possesses an immense amount of offensive IQ and can manage his team like no other, and playmaker like there is no tomorrow. Jason Maciejczak Jason Maciejczak 6'4" | 320 lbs | OL Pierre | 2023 State is the unstoppable force that does not give up sacks, put it simply he is a brick wall that no one can stop. He can block anywhere that you want him to and does it at an insanely high level. Rounding out other offensive players that will be key are Jack Merkwan Jack Merkwan 6'3" | 180 lbs | WR Pierre | 2023 State and Christian Busch Christian Busch 6'4" | 250 lbs | OL Pierre | 2023 State , making Pierre one of the most deadly offensive units that the state of South Dakota has to offer. Pierre is going to have an explosive and efficient unit that is going to be hard to stop and that is where their biggest strength comes to light, the ability to score at will. Playing Aberdeen’s stingy defense will be a great test to see if they are ready to compete and if they are locked in to be on the best teams in AA that they have been for the past few years.
