Here are some prospects to watch for in the month of August as kickoff is right around the corner.
Kasen Weisman Kasen Weisman 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB South Paulding | 2023 State GA – 2023 – QB – South Paulding
Weisman had a huge junior season despite being raw. He has all the physical tools, and he is finally starting to tie all of them together. There has been a certain buzz and build-up around his name in recent months, and it feels like he is about to see his recruitment take off in a huge way. Kansas is among the schools to have already offered him, and schools like Florida State have entered the picture. South Paulding has Harrison and Carrollton in August, so Weisman and the rest of the squad will be tested right off the bat.
Jeremy Hecklinski Jeremy Hecklinski 6'0" | 180 lbs | QB Walton | 2024 State GA – 2024 – QB – Walton
Hecklinski has flown somewhat under the radar in the 2024 class, which is loaded full of elite QBs, especially in Georgia. Still, I believe he is a major P5 talent. He produced at a high-level last season while splitting time with Georgia Southern QB signee Zak Rozsman. When you watch him, he has some serious arm talent and plenty of mobility. With a large sample size, I truly believe Hecklinski can turn some national heads this season. Walton will kick off its season against Mill Creek in the corky kell classic.
Christian Langford Christian Langford 6'2" | 200 lbs | QB Langston Hughes | 2025 State GA – 2025 – QB – East Coweta
One of the more underrated 2025 QBs in the state, and I believe he is going to break out in a big way this fall. Expected to be the starter at East Coweta, Langford showed some flashes as a freshman at Westlake. He has a strong arm, can run well, and is a good decision-maker. Langford is stepping into a situation at East Coweta where he will be able to show what he is capable of when in complete control of the offense. For that reason, he is someone to pay attention to.
Austin Guest Austin Guest 5'11" | 185 lbs | QB Creekview | 2025 State GA – 2025 – QB – Creekview
Keep an eye on Guest, who flashed some serious potential as a freshman. An athletic QB that can push the ball downfield with his arm and his legs. Now in complete control of the offense, he should continue to show why he is one of the best young signal callers in the state. Creekview has a tough schedule starting with Cambridge but will be in good position with Austin Guest Austin Guest 5'11" | 185 lbs | QB Creekview | 2025 State GA behind center.
Julian Lewis Julian Lewis 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Carrollton | 2025 GA – 2026 – QB – Carrollton
The time is almost here for the highly anticipated debut of Julian Lewis Julian Lewis 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Carrollton | 2025 GA , who could be the best 2026 prospect in the nation. He has already created tons of buzz on and off the field at such a young age, and he is now expected to hit the field for Carrollton. Starting on varsity as a freshman isn’t easy, but Lewis has the ability to adjust nicely. There hasn’t been this much hype around a young Georgia QB in years, so all eyes will be on Lewis as he is finally set to show what he can do at the high school level. Carrollton will kick off their 2022 season on the road against Alexander on the 12th.
Bryce Hicks Bryce Hicks 5'9" | 170 lbs | RB Carrollton | 2024 State GA – 2024 – RB – Carrollton
One of my favorite backs to watch on film. He can hurt the defense in a lot of ways and is a great receiver out of the backfield. If he gets any space, it is usually game over for the defense. Should be one of the main playmakers for Carrollton this fall and should continue to grow and improve his stock. Look for him to climb some recruiting boards this fall.
Javin Gordon Javin Gordon 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB Stephens County | 2025 State GA – 2025 – RB – Stephens County
Gordon is coming off a freshman season where he solidified himself as one of the best 2025 backs in the state. A one-cut style runner with great vision and explosiveness. Stephens County had a good RB-duo last season between 2023 Tyson Everett and Gordon, and that group should be even better. Stephens County is a team that has the talent to sneak up and surprise some people.
Luke Logan – 2023 – TE – Lambert
Air Force commit that is very fun to watch on film. His size alone at 6’5 230 makes him a matchup nightmare for defenses, but he also has good speed and is a sneaky good route runner. Not to mention he is also very effective as a blocker. His versatility will prove extremely valuable at the next level. I expect him to see plenty of more balls thrown his way this season.
Kyle Vaka Kyle Vaka 6'1" | 180 lbs | WR Kell | 2024 State GA – 2024 – WR – Johns Creek
Experienced playmaker that started on varsity on a senior crowded team last year. Now, he will get the chance to show what he can do as the top option. Has great size, speed, and is an elite route runner. No offers yet, but that will surely change. Johns Creek will kick off their season across state lines as they take on the Western Wildcats in Florida.
Marqavious Saboor Marqavious Saboor 6'0" | 170 lbs | ATH Kell | 2024 State GA – 2024 – WR – Kell
Talented two-way player that will be a difference maker this season. An incredibly explosive and quick athlete that can create space at the WR position and can do some damage with the ball in his hand. Already holds an Ole Miss offer, but more could be on the way as he continues to turn heads. Look for Saboor to really stand out on film this season.
Jon Faletra – 2023 – OL – River Ridge
One of the more underrated linemen in the state despite his tools and size. Sits at 6’5 290 and has a strong upper body. Is also light on his feet and can move down the field nicely for a big man. River Ridge will face some stout defensive fronts this year which means Faletra can have an impactful senior season.
Gabe Chigwere – 2024 – OL – Cambridge
One of my favorites to watch on film, and someone who I think has a very high ceiling. Doesn’t possess the prototypical size for a big man, but is an incredibly explosive and powerful athlete that can get to the second level with ease. As he continues to grow, I think you will start to see him develop into a legitimate D1 OL prospect over the next two seasons. Chigwere will be tested in week one against a potent Creekview defensive front, should be a must-see matchup.
