Wyomissing standout
Williams is our top player in the 2023 recruiting class and was great to see him on the field this past Saturday. Williams looks like he’s pushing 6-foot-5 or taller at this point and he could still put on another 20-30 pounds easily, he carries his weight really well. Super athletic and a great run blocker, we saw everything we pretty much wanted to see out of Williams in the scrimmage.
Highlights
Other Wyomissing notes:
Even when Williams wasn’t in the game for the Spartans, they were able to move the ball at a good clip. They’ll be just fine when he’s not on the field this year and next season. Of course with the legendary Bob Wolfrum, that is somewhat of a given. OL Pacen Ziegler Pacen Ziegler 6'4" | 275 lbs | OL Wyomissing | 2023 State PA is another name to really keep an eye on.
2023 RB/DB Drew Eisenhower Drew Eisenhower 5'10" | 185 lbs | ATH Wyomissing | 2023 State PA was also impressive during the scrimmage. Eisenhower is a tough runner who shows quality speed as well. Will definitely be watching him closely this season.
Overall, Wyomissing is looking like they’ll follow up their 15-1 season from 2021 with another outstanding season. The offensive line has an argument as one of the best in the state. The defense should remain strong as well.
North Penn standout
It was my first opportunity to see Haynes in a non-camp standing and I came away impressed. Haynes was by far the most athletic player on the field and showed up off his top-notch elusiveness and speed a few times. Any time Haynes gets into space this year, it’s going to be tough for opposing defenders to bring him down, he is simply too fast and too shifty to give any sort of space to. He’s someone who could easily find himself in the top-10 or even top-5 later this year with a strong summer.
Highlights
Other North Penn notes:
2024 RB Dave Dawes is a big running back but at about 240-pounds and likely around the 6-foot-1, 6-foot-2 size. Strong north-south runner, though to bring down. Projects to a fullback at the next level. Also played a solid linebacker. Could be a name to keep a closer eye on going forward.
North Penn seemed to be wearing different numbers than on their rosters but Ryan Zeltt Ryan Zeltt 6'4" | 210 lbs | QB North Penn | 2023 State PA showed nice touch on several passes. The ball comes out of his hand with good velocity and he throws a rather tight spiral. He’s going to have fun throwing to Yazeed Haynes Yazeed Haynes 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR North Penn | 2023 State PA and the rest of North Penn’s wide receiver core.
Apologize for the lack of a name right now since North Penn’s roster isnt updated but No.5, a wide receiver for North Penn showed quite a bit of promise. Good hands, good speed and agile. Will be someone I look for this upcoming season. If you can help me identify this player, that would be much appreciated it! 2023 WR/DB Xavier Bryan also impressed both myself and Vic Castillo Vic Castillo RB PA in the game.
Overall, North Penn is looking like a prime contender to go deep into this year’s state playoffs. The offense should be one of the better ones in eastern Pennsylvania. Quarterback Ryan Zeltt Ryan Zeltt 6'4" | 210 lbs | QB North Penn | 2023 State PA is among the best senior quarterbacks in the state and Yazeed Haynes Yazeed Haynes 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR North Penn | 2023 State PA , of course is one of the state’s top wideouts regardless of class. It could be a special year in Lansdale.
