Owyhee 13 – Madison 7
Owyhee starts off the 2022 season with a bang defeating a very good Madison team who lost to Meridian a state semifinal team a year ago in the playoffs. Even though the defenses showed up to play for both squads Owyhee was able to do just enough behind their two big offensive linemen Carson Rasmussen Carson Rasmussen 6'5" | 295 lbs | OL Owyhee HS | 2023 State ID and Zach Nyland to push ahead of the Bobcats. Tim Jamerson was the lone touchdown of the night for the Storm but the defense is what stole the show coming up with two interceptions. Ben Dredge for the Bobcats was the star of the show rushing for 107 yards but it just wasn’t enough as Madison wasn’t able to mount a late comeback.
Rocky Mountain 21 – Middleton 7

Boise 28 – Timberline 0
The Braves of Boise High might be one of the most excited teams coming out of week one. After winning only one game last year and playing as an independent that was not eligible for the playoff the Braves beat crosstown rival Timberline behind opportunistic defense and special teams along with the arm of quarterback Cooper Smith and the hands of Caleb Allen.
Borah 21 – Capital 0
In one of the oldest rivalries in the state Borah Lions finally topped the Eagles of Capital. In one of the more dominant performances of week one Borah held Capital to just 190 yards of total offense while the Lions were able to lean on there battle tested senior class led by quarterback Korbin McCarney, running back Parker Rushton Parker Rushton 6'2" | 200 lbs | ATH Borah | 2023 State ID and do it all player Trace Freeman Trace Freeman 6'0" | 185 lbs | ATH Borah HS | 2023 State ID . This is a big victory for the Lions and after listening to the senior leader McCarney talk about what it means to the Borah program look for the Lions to be a team to watch out for this season.
MERIDIAN 36 – EAGLE 14
In the game of the night it was the Warriors of Meridian that put on on of the most dominant performance of the entire week. Behind what might be the state’s best defense the Warriors were able to hold a explosive Eagle offense to just 158 yards of total offense. It was clear that Meridian is going to be hard to score on as Eagle managed to score due to a short field with a muffed punt and a 92 yard touchdown run by Eagle quarterback Jake Longson. The Warriors were able to run the football which helped out sophomore quarterback Zeke Martinez in his first start since taking over full time for his older brother. Eagle struggled on offense to find rhythm but dont count out the Mustangs they are loaded with talent and have speed everywhere on the field. No doubt they will figure things out and be a force this season.
