This is going to be a long series of new additions to our rankings to make sure that each young man is highlighted. That being said, there are P5 caliber recruits down to D3/JUCO recruits. The moral of the story, each of these young men did the work and deserved a spot in our rankings. We’re here to highlight their hard work. Without further ado, let’s take a look at Pt. 10 of our New Additions to the 23′ Rankings.
Mr. Barkley works as a 7 tech where he can either put his hand in the ground or be a stand up end. This young man flashes his ability of taking the run blocks head on to jolt the run blocker upright before disengaging to meet the ball carrier in the hole for no gain. On outside the tackle runs, he flashes his ability to close where he can either secure the tackle on the perimeter or force the ball carrier to stretch the play allowing his teammates to rally to the ball. I’m interested to see how he fairs in his pass rush this season as that’s one area he could be more consistent in. Overall, this young man has room to add to his frame and I’m very interested to see how he produces this fall season. Twitter
Mr. Mayo is a quarterback that can stand strong in the pocket where he gets the ball off with a defender right in his face to keep the chains moving. This young man can also get the ball out quickly when running RPOs as well. His release is going to be one to keep an eye on this fall as it limits the time the rushing defenders have to generate pressure on the play. Let’s not forget about the glimpses he flashes of being able to drive off his back foot adding extra velocity on the ball. Overall, there’s still a lot of untapped potential yet to come to light out of this gunslinger. Keep an eye on how he produces this fall as he and Richards could potentially make a deep playoff run. Mr. Castillo is a cornerback that flashes his ability to close quickly on the ball carrier. This is seen when he’s taking pursuit angles when he’s coming down in run support as well as triggering downhill to secure open field tackles once a receiver secures the catch. What I’m interested to see more out of this young man is his man coverage. He also has potential as a receiver, his skill sets there transfer over to cornerback well I might add. Overall, this is a young man that I believe has potential to have a strong Senior Season Campaign for North Boone. Keep an eye on him this fall.
Mr. Spallasso is a cornerback that isn’t afraid to undercut routes to come away with interceptions. He can also work as a two high safety at times where he reads the quarterback’s eyes when in his deep half drop. When doing so, he can then take a good break to make a play on the ball. In terms of run support, he can close quickly to secure open field tackles on the perimeter and can come from the opposite field to secure the tackle downfield saving touchdowns. Overall, I expect this young man to add to his 5 interception season last year and keep that momentum going this fall. Twitter
Mr. Gall is an inside linebacker that can trigger downhill quickly both in run support and when he diagnoses screen passes. When doing so, he’s able to put himself in a position to make a play on the ball limiting the yardage gained. With that being said, he flows to the ball well on inside the tackle runs. Here, he’s able to fill the gaps hard to meet the ball carrier in the hole for no gain on a consistent basis. All of which is done by him holding his gap responsibility well. Twitter
