Continue ReadingThe hunt for an Upper Dublin state title will be spearheaded by top ten quarterback prospect Colin O’Sullivan Colin O’Sullivan 6’0″ | 180 lbs | QB Upper Dublin | 2023 State PA . Since I began covering Eastern Pennsylvania, O’Sullivan’s game has always stood out, especially in-game, live football. This offseason was the first opportunity I had to see what Colin O’Sullivan Colin O’Sullivan 6’0″ | 180 lbs | QB Upper Dublin | 2023 State PA , the worker, looked like. Once again, I come away impressed. Seemingly from start to finish, O’Sullivan has worked his tail off to make sure his final season at Upper Dublin pays off with a championship. When speaking to the young man, it’s all he has on his mind. The senior quarterback dominated camp and 7v7 settings all summer, proving he cares about his continued development. Colin has a chip on his shoulder and has a supporting cast that is just as eager to prove doubters wrong.
Highlights
The play of this trio of defenders will greatly impact the trajectory of the program. Cerisier, Hackett, and Butler each grade out as high-quality D2 prospects that all have FCS potential ceilings. I have a feeling we see the best of these three this Fall.
DJ Cerisier DJ Cerisier 6’1″ | 180 lbs | DB Upper Dublin | 2023 State PA headlines the secondary. The 6’1 corner is a frequent mention when I speak to D2 and FCS schools who are looking for long-limbed, experienced corners. Expect Cerisier to double down on all-state and all-league honors this Fall.
Riley Hackett Riley Hackett 6’4″ | 230 lbs | DL Upper Dublin | 2023 State PA ‘s frame pops as soon as you see him on the field. An EDGE and tackle-capable linemen, Hackett stands at 6’4, 230 pounds. Hackett’s defensive line reps look natural, whereas at tackle Hackett might be a bit of a project for college coaching staffs. Nonetheless, Upper Dublin has a menace along its defensive line. Expect a ton of TFLs each Friday night.
Kyree Butler Kyree Butler 6’1″ | 315 lbs | DL Upper Dublin | 2023 State PA is yet another massive run-stopper stationed in the middle of this defensive line. Call him a nose guard, call him a shading defensive tackle. Call him whatever you want, I call him a problem for interior linemen. Butler is 6’1 and pushing 315 pounds. The epitome of a disrupter inside, if you’re going to run in the trenches against UD. He and Hackett rank similarly.
Next up are the potential back/linebacker tandem in Nyfise McIntyre Nyfise McIntyre 5’10” | 180 lbs | RB Upper Dublin | 2023 State PA , who lit up a UD game I attended last Fall, and Tawfiq Bartlett Tawfiq Bartlett 5’10” | 205 lbs | LB Upper Dublin | 2023 State PA .
McIntrye and Bartlett both share similar roles, while each carry less than similar builds. McIntyre looks the part of a running back, both physically and on tape. Light on his feet, balanced, can see lanes open naturally. Whereas Bartlett’s extra 20 pounds will suit him at linebacker. Bartlett can still churn his legs and pick up chunks of yardage if given carries, yet I expect Bartlett to turn heads at linebacker in run support. Both can provide reps at either RB or LB, expect to see each share large roles in their senior seasons.
Griffin Pensabene
Griffin Pensabene
We’ve gone far enough without mentioning a possible go-to weapon for Colin O’Sullivan Colin O’Sullivan 6’0″ | 180 lbs | QB Upper Dublin | 2023 State PA . Enter Griffin Pensabene, a 6’1 wideout that provides a nice blend of size, stride, hands, and smarts. Pensabene’s tape is certainly good enough for a ranking. He displays great field awareness, showing he understands his route in correlation with others, and how to attack a defense accordingly. Well-seasoned wideout who should connect well with O’Sullivan.
The Cardinals will rely heavily on their senior class. Yet the addition of top 75 prospect Shyne Roberts Shyne Roberts 6’1″ | 210 lbs | LB Upper Dublin | 2024 State PA should help alleviate some of the pressure put on the seniors. Former MLK standout will now suit up for Upper Dublin, one of the more underrated moves made in Eastern PA this offseason. Roberts should garner attention from FBS schools this Fall, something he has already achieved at MLK. The supporting class, especially along the defensive line, should suit his aggressive play style well. I don’t want to talk about how underrated this kid is anymore, I want his name squarely amongst FBS talents in his class.
Chris Kohlbrenner Chris Kohlbrenner 5’10” | 170 lbs | ATH Upper Dublin | 2024 State PA joins Shyne Roberts Shyne Roberts 6’1″ | 210 lbs | LB Upper Dublin | 2024 State PA as key junior prospects that will have expanded roles this Fall. Kohlbrenner’s role was already note-worthy. Love this kid’s total package. I think he is equally as impactful at wideout as he is at defensive back, yet his tape gives you a taste as to why he is renowned at safety. One of the better two-way players in District One, especially amongst his class, Kohlbrenner was close to cracking the top 100 on our rankings, he can do so if he replicates his production from his sophomore season.
Next up are two underclassmen names to know. One of which might sound familiar to the Cardinal community. Ryan O’Sullivan Ryan O’Sullivan LB Upper Dublin | 2025 State PA is the younger brother of Colin O’Sullivan Colin O’Sullivan 6’0″ | 180 lbs | QB Upper Dublin | 2023 State PA and a future starter at Upper Dublin. I admittedly thought Ryan would play wideout for the team, considering I have seen so many clips of him catching passes from his older brother. Turns out, Ryan has a little dog in him. Excited to see what kind of role Ryan can carve out for himself either this Fall or in his future.
Dominick Paone Dominick Paone 6’0″ | 180 lbs | ATH Upper Dublin | 2025 PA is another name worth mentioning. A standout Lacrosse prospect will look to stand out on the football field again this Fall. Paone delivered with some moments last year, producing well as a freshman at linebacker for the Cardinals. I’m hearing he could move to safety this Fall, either way, I’m expecting a hyper-aggressive force that should be able to provide some hybrid LB/S reps for the program.
