Continue ReadingCleto Chol Cleto Chol 6’6″ | 240 lbs | DL Proctor Academy | 2023 State NewE , a top 40 prospect in all of New England, should act as a fun project for the coaching staff at UConn. 6’6, with an even wider wingspan. 240 pounds that can move sufficiently. A lot to like when turning on Chol’s tape, besides his obvious size on the field. Proctor Academy has fun deploying Chol almost anywhere they please. I personally love Chol at EDGE/OLB, it’s a position I think he will eventually thrive in at UConn. At the high school level, Chol can easily dominate as a pass rusher, proving to be too long and physical for most tackles in New Hampshire to handle. A ton of Chol’s junior tape highlights show how effective a receiver he can be as well. I wouldn’t expect that to change this Fall, look for Chol to be the focal point of this Hornet team.
I couldn’t find tape for this behemoth linemen outside of a two-minute midseason tape from last Fall. I can’t help but figure that most of his reps all season were much like the ones I saw on this short clip, nothing short of dominant. The young man is 6’8, close to 6’9, 280 pounds, closer to 300 pounds if you ask me. There aren’t too many prospects that can line up across this kid, on either side of the ball, and withstand the strength that is coming their way. We will see how well he can move at the next level, for now, his overwhelming power is enough to make him a staple right tackle in New Hampshire. Johnson is equally punishing at defensive tackle as well.
Liric Harris Liric Harris 6’3″ | DL Proctor Academy | 2023 State NewE , the Evergreen Defensive Player of the Year, acts as the third mean, powerful trench prospect deployed by Proctor Academy. Chol and Johnson overwhelm with size, whereas Liric Harris Liric Harris 6’3″ | DL Proctor Academy | 2023 State NewE , who isn’t small in any sense of the word, can flash some foot speed and hand quickness to win reps. Now you’ve got three menacing linemen, one of which can catch touchdown passes over DB’s heads, another that can steamroll DEs and LBs, and another that can provide a bit of finesse and technique inside. An unfair trio that will set the tone for Proctor Academy this Fall/
The Proctor Academy defense is shaping up to be exponentially above the majority of their peers. Now let’s incorporate Jackson Downey Jackson Downey 6’2″ | 195 lbs | DB Proctor Academy | 2023 State NewE into the secondary and front seven. I’m genuinely surprised to see Downey wait as long as he did for his first FCS offer to arrive. New Hampshire pulled the trigger on the 6’2, 200-pound safety/linebacker hybrid. Downey came away with 4 interceptions in eight games last Fall. Where Downey makes an impression is in his ability to both diagnose the run and read passing concepts and attack downhill to make stops. I expect FCS schools to recruit him to play linebacker at the next level. FCS teams could use his safety reps as experience to play the pass at OLB if need be. Happy to see his recruitment begin to blossom.
Jack Poirier Jack Poirier 6’2″ | 180 lbs | WR Proctor Academy | 2023 State NewE , formerly out of Wellesley HS in Massachusetts, is the first and highest ranking weapon to be mentioned in this piece. Hard to believe the kid is 6’2/6’3 at times. Poirier often got the ball at the LOS at WHS. He displayed real acceleration in the open field, not taking too long to hit his second gear. Again, the kid is almost 6’3 and beating angles from DBs in the secondary. Impressive. Poirier also shows he can be trusted in 50/50 situations to at least make a play on the football. He positions himself well, making sure he isn’t pushed off his route more times than not. A solid weapon to build the offense around.
Mark Rodeo Mark Rodeo 5’11” | 175 lbs | QB Proctor Academy | 2023 NewE stands to be the man behind center this Fall. A Watchlist player, the starter for Proctor Academy last Fall, Rodeo has flare to his game. His tape is littered with special throws after a play breaks down. There are plenty of in-rhythm throws, the young man sees the middle of the field well. Where Rodeo stands out is in impromptu situations. A stellar senior year should lead to a ranking debut for Rodeo.
Highlights
Every defense could use a player like Thomas Spillane Thomas Spillane 6’0″ | 200 lbs | LB Proctor Academy | 2024 State NewE . Spillane’s a quality run-stopper who isn’t afraid to get his nose in the dirt. A form tackler, Spillane excels at middle linebacker, acting as an instinct-first backer who is vocal enough to direct his fellow teammates. Spillane might be a tad bit underrated despite his initial rank into the top half of the junior rankings on our site. He will get to feast while offenses might try to scheme away from the likes of Chol and Harris.
Gabriel Copeland
Gabriel Copeland
Just over two weeks ago, Gabriel Copeland decided to transfer out of Beverly High and into Proctor Academy, thrusting his name into the linebacker room that is starting to look promising. There isn’t too much film to study yet, but off-season clips on Twitter look promising. The young man should see time this Fall, so long as he gets acclimated to the Proctor system in time. We will have our eyes peeled.
Cam Chambers
Cam Chambers
Here’s a new unranked name that secured All-League honors last Fall, before his reclassification into the class of 2025. Poirier might provide explosive plays and act as the playmaker of the offense, whereas Chambers can be trusted and counted on to eat underneath coverage. Chambers is an intelligent football player, you can tell by how he sets up in a zone after the play breaks down. His understanding of coverage alignments helps him get open. The reps at defensive back clearly go hand in hand, as Chambers learns the do’s and don’ts of both positions and applies them accordingly.
