Recently appointed in 2021, Head Coach Matt Landolfi will lead his team in fall 2022 at Duxbury High School. Landolfi, 49, has been the team’s defensive coordinator for six years prior to taking the reigns over as Head Coach.
Team Overview: The Dragons are always challenging through gridiron battle for another MIAA State playoff run. Another Massachusetts program that has held great success in past years. The program has sent recruits to D1-D3 levels every year throughout all their success. The program is known to field athletic talent that reloads every year and why a Team Preview is worthy each year.
2021 Season Results: In 2021, the Dragons had a strong season that included losses to Franklin and Scituate. Top wins included those over Scituate in the regular season, Marshfield on Thanksgiving, and Foxboro in the playoffs. The Dragons returning QB Matt Festa Matt Festa 6'3" | 205 lbs | QB Duxbury H.S, Ma. | 2023 State NewE should lead them to be in the mix once again in 2022.
Toughest Losses to Graduation: Brady Madigan (WR) = Univ of New Hampshire, Delby Lemieux (OL) = Dartmouth, Campbell Pang (DB) = Williams College, Bowman Rhinesmith (WR) = Tufts, Tindell Frick (OL) = Assumption College, Teddy Massingham (LB) = Williams College, Matt Ciesielski (WR) = St. Lawrence
Players to watch:
Festa is a breakout dual threat QB athlete on the gridiron. He was previously committed to Maryland for Baseball but has recently decided to focus on a gridiron opportunity. He has a strong arm. When he throws, it looks like he is just flicking it, but the ball flies out of his hand. He is extremely competitive and always eager to learn. An athlete with a live arm and massive potential who can take off for big gains if things break down on a pass play. Projected as a D1/D2 recruit, he will likely get more college attention after his senior season campaign.
Highlights
Brendan Bonner
Brendan Bonner
“Bonner” is a physical DB. His ability and instinct to identify and break on the ball in zone defense is impressive. He can be seen flying side line to side line in run support needs. Has good speed and tackles low with good pad level. Also plays hockey. He is captain of both of his 2022 hockey and football teams.
A impressive athlete. As a sophomore in 2021, “Barlow” had an eye opening season. He is one to keep additional eyes on for sure. He can do it all with his athletic abilities. Evaluated as a athlete, on offense, has good hands and after the catch he uses good balance along with the use of a stiff arm to avoid defenders. On defense, he brings a physical mentality that is solid in run support. He loves to chase down the ball carrier and give the blow to finish. After his upcoming jr season, he will likely to attract additional college attention. Projected D1/D2 athlete that may be decided upon verifying his 40 speed after Jr season.
