The Hawks have been the top dog program out of the state for a long time coming. When it comes to expectations, they are always high at Hendricken. The team is coached by Head Coach Keith Croft who is known to have said to reinforce the notion by acknowledging the importance of sports at the school. We will preview the athletes we feel this team will be looking to lead the “Hawks” into gridiron battles for fall season 2022.
Team Overview:
Bishop Hendricken has been a very successful football program competing in Rhode Island and within the New England region. The success the “Hawks” have had over the last ten years is impressive and projected to continue as they reload for the 2022 season.
2021 Season Results: 2021 was not a typically dominant Hawks team throughout sections of this season within Rhode Island. Hendricken opened 2-2 overall after losing to Iona Prep (N.Y.) and Catholic Memorial (Mass.). Both schools were a pair of regional powers expected to provide non- league tests for the Hawks. The Hawks rallied late in a 14-8 home win over Central and survived a 14-7 road thriller against the Patriots prior to the playoffs. The Hawks then went on to beat Lasalle Academy Bishop Hendricken then went on to defeat La Salle Academy, 49-40, for fourth straight Super Bowl title.
Toughest Losses to Graduation: Peter Bibby III Peter Bibby III 5'9" | 180 lbs | ATH East Coast Prep | 2023 State New E (WR) = East Coast Prep (PG), David Lynch (QB) = IMG Academy (PG), Brandyn Durand DE = Univ Kentucky (baseball), Teighan Jeremy (LB) = Undecided, Kamalie Pemberton (RB) = Univ Rhode Island, Synsere Fernandes (RB) = Springfield College, Gabe Franco (MLB) = Undecided, Hunter Mumford (RB) = Undecided, Andrew Picard (WR) = Undecided
PLAYERS TO WATCH:
Entering his Jr season he has elite elusiveness and speed. Has good vision and can break on the dime to find the lane. His balance is great. He has the home run ability that jumps on film. Awesome quick step in planting and cutting. Projected D1 and with time to continue developing after graduation. Likely play RB or the slot at the next level. Will see more college interest after Jr. season.
Big upside with “Vilane”. Evaluated as a OL from his sophomore film, you can see he has great strength. Holds his blocks until the whistle blows. He moves his feet quickly while driving his defender. Loves being physical. He could develop into a next level DT with more growth and quicker feet. Univ of Rhode Island has already offered. Additional opportunities will come after 2022 season.
