Find out about some of the players to watch from Royalton, more role players that you might see take it up a notch this season, and we have the 2022 Royalton Royals schedule as well!
Royalton Royals Players to Watch for in 2022:
Connor Carlson
Connor Carlson
Watching Connor in practice, you see a long-striding running back at 6’0 205 pounds. I liked watching the patience he had in reps waiting for his offensive line to give him what he needed to give himself the best angle of attack within the gaps provided. He shows off another gear when it comes to his game speed on Friday nights; you can tell this a bunch when he gets into the 2nd level of the field. A development for Connor looking into 2022 is growing on his alignment when he runs into his gap, as I believe he can put together even stronger runs in 2022 if he can set himself up with a more uniform approach. Connor is a fluid inside runner that has a lot of promise to be a nice smaller school prospect at the next level.
Drew Yourczek
Drew Yourczek
Drew will likely be QB1 for the Royalton Royals in 2022, but don’t be surprised to see him lining up in other positions in the Royals backfield in 2022. I always love watching a prospect improve from practice start to practice end, which was the case the case with Drew Yourczek when I was at practice on Thursday night. By the night’s end, he showed stronger precision on his throws on intermediate routes. Drew shows off a quick release and is growing with his development with his throws on deeper routes from a touch perspective. I also loved this kid’s character when having a brief conversation with him towards the end of the practice. As I mentioned, Drew also lines up in the backfield for the Royals and has some instinctive footwork while working his angles with his footwork. Another prospect I would put on my list is the potential to have a future playing football on Saturdays.
Jackson Psyck
Jackson Psyck
Jackson is by far the anchor to this Royalton Royal’s offensive line. He showed one of the best bends on the line with his 6’2 245 pound frame. Jackson showed a sizeable punching ability during practice and a prospect with good feet coming out of his stance to assist the outside run game as a pull blocker. Jackson also has great awareness and pad-level as the leader of the Royal’s offensive line. Despite being one of the biggest kid’s on the Royals, Jackson is one of the top five fastest players on the Royals, as he’s also a competitive track athlete in spring for Royalton in the 400 meters and the shotput. Jackson is a high academic kid with a 4.0 GPA and, I believe, is yet another prospect on this Royals roster that would be a solid college prospect.
Carson is might not the biggest player yet (2025) on the Royalton Royals, but I loved hearing about his growth over the summer from Royalton Head Coach Jamie Morford. He developed that strength this summer by moving his fair share of truck tires around the yard, which is such an intriguing way to gain strength in the offseason. On the reps I got to watch from Carson, he showed some of the most shifty footwork I saw amongst the skill players at Royalton and showed off a very quick release coming out of his stance at the slot receiver position. Coach Morford told us at Prep Redzone Minnesota that Carson plays “fearless” for his size, and that is easy to see out on the field watching his reps as he’s a strong competitor against some of the upperclassmen despite his size. With a few more years of high school football coming under his belt, I would not be surprised to see Carson as a college football prospect when it is all said and done, as he has that instinctive skillset and intriguing demeanor I look forward to scouting over the coming years out of Royalton.
More Royalton Royals Players to Watch in 2022:
Cal Ollman, QB, Royalton (2024)
Cal does a great job at selling the run on the option, and if you decide to blink during the given time, you might miss who has the football with his instinctive ability running the option. Cal also showed some good touch on all three levels throwing the football as well.
Kyler Panek, OL, Royalton (2023)
Kyler showed off some promise in the earliest reps I caught from Royalton, as he showed a quick first step out of his stance with good concentration. No tape available on this young man, but hopefully, we can see some come this 2022 season!
Will Gorecki, RB, Royalton (2023)
Jonah Schneider, ATH, Royalton (2023)
