Drew Evans – Ben Davis – LB – 6’0″ 227lbs
Evans is an athletic versatile chess piece that Ben Davis likes to move around. Evans will drop back in coverage, spy the QB, or blitz the passer depending on the situation. He’s shown the ability to do everything asked of him. He’s good in the box and a physical LB. He’ll come downhill, stick his nose in the dirty stuff, and make the play. He’ll also line up in the box and on the edge sometimes. When he does, he’s able to be an effective DE. He’s got a thick frame and you can tell he works a ton in the weight room. He’s lengthy as well and feels like he could still be growing. With his frame and strength, especially if he gets longer, I could see him being eyed as an elite DE prospect. If not, then we’re looking at an incredibly physical LB who likes to hit, fly around, and has a ton of untapped potential. Evans is really good in small spaces and when he needs to get creative to make the play. He’s twitchy and is in really good control of his body. His tape is exciting but still feels like he’s nowhere near his ceiling. Evans has the perfect swagger to his game when he steps on the field and it really feels like he’s just beginning to find his groove. This fall, you can expect big things and a massive role for Evans incoming. If he’s able to back it up and perform like he’s shown he’s capable, the offers will begin to come hot and heavy.
Anthony Feltrinelli Anthony Feltrinelli 6'1" | 215 lbs | LB Westfield | 2024 State IN – Westfield – LB – 6’1″ 215lbs
Feltrinelli is the heart and soul of that defense and helps control the traffic from the middle. Whatever Westfield needs, Feltrinelli is able to adjust and deliver. He’s decent in coverage, can play in the box and fill alleys, and tackle out in space. He’s a solid athlete and has incredible length. He’s got decent vision and can track the ball carrier through traffic and not lose sight and make the tackle. Typically, once he gets his hands on the ball carrier they aren’t going anywhere and the play is over. Both his JV and Varsity tape have shown the same traits all over the field and the same instincts to get to the ball and make the play. Physically, he’s thick and lifts, but think he’s still got room to develop further. Feltrinelli is fairly disciplined and doesn’t seem to overthink on the field or try to get cute. He does his job, makes the play, and moves on to the next down. This fall, if he can come out and put another solid performance together while showing that development from the offseason, I think he’s going to begin getting the eyes he deserves. The future is bright and the best part is he’s still got 2 years of development left!
Nikolas Schindler Nikolas Schindler 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB Jeffersonville | 2024 State IN – Jeffersonville – QB – 6’0″ 180lbs
Schindler is a dynamic athlete for Jeffersonville who has progressed nicely over the past few years, and especially this summer. The physical development is something to be excited about. He’s an inch or 2 already taller than his listed height from last year and about 10lbs of raw muscle. The biggest knock I had from his film was his arm strength. His arm is noticeably stronger and comes out cleaner with more zip. He’s throwing it on a frozen rope rather than the lolipop-only special. He’s looking comfortable and confident like the extra year is helping as it should. His tape shows a quick decision-maker and good accuracy. There are times he can get a little antsy in the pocket and either leave early or not set his feet. A minor thing and as he gets more reps it’s likely that he’ll get a better feel for the timer you need. He’s a good athlete and can take off and run if he needs to. He’ll fight for extra yards and lower his head. He’s not going to burn the defense left and right, but he’s a good enough athlete to take off and gash them to keep them honest. He’s a grinder and someone who works his tail off. Jeffersonville is going to get every ounce of blood, sweat, and tears from him and this fall I’m excited to see him take that next step. He’s right there, has been putting the work in, and will be ready to go for week 1.
Yushawn Hatchett Yushawn Hatchett 5'10" | 205 lbs | ATH Franklin Central | 2024 State IN – Franklin Central – RB/LB – 5’10″ 205lbs
Hatchett is a fantastic athlete who is going to be asked to do a ton this fall. He primarily developed on the JV squad over the past few years, but he’s ready to go. He stepped in for Varsity from time to time and then was a regular player on Special Teams. He’s incredibly versatile and can play on both sides of the ball. He can carry the rock and make some good things happen with the ball in his hands. However, I think he’s best on defense. He likes to hit, he can fly around, and he’s someone who gets better as the game goes on. Hatchett is someone who feeds off the energy and makes plays. Once he starts, he won’t stop. He’s got elite speed, fantastic closing speed, and can track the ball through the most difficult traffic. Physically, he’s well built and getting stronger. He lifts regularly and it’s paid off before this season. It’s only going to help over the next few years as he gets bigger and stronger. All of the instincts and physical traits are there. He’s got the confidence and shown the ability at the JV level. This fall, you can expect him to step up the same way for Varsity and really explode onto the scene.
Tanner Boyd Tanner Boyd 5'11" | 170 lbs | QB Gibson Southern | 2024 State IN – Gibson Southern – QB – 6’0″ 160lbs
Boyd is a fantastic prospect heading into one of the most intriguing situations in the state. A potential QB battle for the starting job of one of the best programs in the state. Boyd is the older of the 2 and from what I’ve seen, especially in person, looks absolutely fantastic. He was at the IndyWeOutHere Camp a few weeks back and looked incredibly smooth along with being a bit better built physically. He led the JV squad to a 7-0 record last year and was slicing and dicing. He came in and got back up Varsity reps and the lights never got to him. They used him for his elite running ability and when they called on him, he delivered. Boyd is a great athlete who can and will run. He’s got the ability to break a long run and take it to the house. His legs and versatility, along with his experience winning JV games will help him be more prepared this fall. His passing attack is decent but still developing. He’s got a decent arm and is fairly accurate. At the camp at least, he was throwing with anticipation and throwing guys open while only giving his guy a chance. His footwork looked much cleaner and less choppy. You can tell he’s been absolutely grinding in the lab this offseason. I’m really excited to see how that room shakes out and then how Boyd does this fall with the opportunity given to him.
