Continue ReadingThe mighty Ohio State Buckeyes have never had a problem recruiting the state of Georgia. They’re one of the top college football programs in the country, and each year they do a great job of recruiting the peach state.
The Buckeyes are looking for tight ends, and earlier this week they extended an offer to some of the best tight ends in multiple classes across Georgia.
Ryan Ghea Ryan Ghea 6'5" | 220 lbs | TE Milton | 2025 State GA – Milton
One of the top young prospects in North Georgia, Ghea is a big target and a weapon in the passing game at 6-foot-5 220-pounds. Only a rising sophomore, Ghea has the build to be a promising blocker on the edge, but his ability to be a mismatch in the passing game, along with his outstanding frame, is what makes him an easy D1 talent and why he recently earned an offer from the Buckeyes. The young Milton standout is athletic, runs like a deer, and excellent after the catch. He shows strong hands in the passing game and knows how to break tackles after the catch. He looks the part and he has the potential to have a breakout sophomore season for one of the top programs in the state. Look for Ghea to be one of the top-ranked 2025 TE prospects sooner than later.

Walter Matthews Walter Matthews 6'7" | 245 lbs | TE Hiram | 2024 State GA – Hiram
Ranked as the new No. 2 TE prospect and the No. 18 overall prospect in Georgia, Matthews is another big-bodied receiver with plenty of length at 6-foot-7 245-pounds. He has D1 size and potential, so it’s easy to see why the Buckeyes pulled the trigger on an offer. He’s a massive target from a physical standpoint, and his natural athleticism makes him a promising tight end prospect and one of the best in the peach state. He has reliable hands, a giant catch radius, and he already looks like a Power 5 tight end. He didn’t catch a ton of passes last year as a sophomore, but that hasn’t stopped programs like Ohio State and others from jumping on board. He’s an excellent looking prospect who should catch a lot more passes as a junior this fall.
Honored to receive an offer from THE™️ Ohio State University‼️ #GoBucks #BigTen @OhioStateFB @OSUCoachKDub @Landgrant33 @11WRecruiting @Bill_Kurelic @ChadSimmons_ @Mansell247 @adamgorney @TomLuginbill @RecruitGeorgia @GAVarsityRivals @hiramhornetsFB pic.twitter.com/KAL2RkG2Ga

Emaree Winston – Calhoun
The mighty Calhoun Yellow Jackets are always loaded with talent and they’ve got another young star on their hands in Winston, a 6-foot-3 230-pounder who is in the middle of seeing his recruitment take off. The young young pass catcher, Winston shows good body control, strong hands, and now holds an offer from the Ohio State Buckeyes. He may be young, but it’s easy to see the potential he has both as a blocker and as a pass-catcher. He catches the ball with ease and knows how to get upfield in a hurry. As young as he is, he already had D1 size and he’s only going to get bigger and stronger over the next few years. With the Buckeyes extending an offer, look for more schools to follow suit and start recruiting the big 2025 tight end from North Georgia.
After a great conversation with coach @OSUCoachKDub I am extremely blessed to receive an offer from The Ohio State University! @ryandaytime @CoachTonyAlford @clays24 @coachcjcollins @CoachCrosby3 @MohrRecruiting @JeremyO_Johnson @Mansell247 @RWrightRivals @Bill_Kurelic pic.twitter.com/p2MGfzUAWO

Michael Smith Michael Smith 6'4" | 225 lbs | TE Calvary Day | 2024 State GA – Calvary Day
One of the top 2024 tight ends in Georgia, the Savannah native and No. 33 overall 2024 prospect in the state according to Prep Redzone is a true pass-catching weapon who now holds an offer from the Buckeyes. At 6-foot-4 225-pounds, Smith has plenty of size and knows how to use it to his advantage in the smaller region he plays in. He’s a good athlete as well, so if you combine that with his size and reliable hands, he can be tough to stop for most defenses in the Savannah area. As one of the biggest playmakers in the Savannah area, Smith showed that he has D1 talent with his 42 receptions for 684 yards and nine touchdowns. He’s deceptively quick for his size and is tough to bring down by one defender. He’s exactly the type of tight end the Buckeyes are looking for, so we’ll see if they continue to push for Smith down the road. Smith now holds offers from Ohio State, Miami, Kentucky, UCF, Arkansas, among others.
