The area is full of impressive defensive backs, and there are multiple defensive backs in the 2025 class who will be household names sooner than later. Here’s a list of breakout 2025 DB candidates in the Atlanta area..
Shamar “Dudie” Arnoux – Centennial
Another impressive young athlete in Fulton County, Arnoux is starting to see his recruitment take off after camping at multiple schools this month, adding recent offers from Tennessee, Georgia Tech, UCONN, Ole Miss and LSU. He doesn’t have a ton of varsity experience just yet, but it’s easy to see the talent he has when watching him during camp season this summer. A breakout defensive back candidate, Arnoux is technically and fundamentally sound for his age at cornerback with enough length and athleticism to play multiple positions in the secondary. At 6-foot-0 160-pounds, he’s only going to add more mass to his frame, so it’s easy to see why college coaches have been impressed by him. He’s quick, shows good footwork in coverage, and has held his own at whatever camp he’s been at recently. He has a ton of potential and he’ll likely continue to climb the rankings in the 2025 class over time.
Dylan Lewis Dylan Lewis 6'1" | 180 lbs | DB Milton | 2025 State GA – Milton
Lewis is a guy many have been talking about now as a breakout candidate for one of the top 7A programs across the state in Milton. A good-looking athlete who can play on both sides of the ball, look for Lewis to see plenty of action as a sophomore this fall. He’s playing alongside two of the best safeties in the state in Bryce Thornton Bryce Thornton 5'11" | 190 lbs | DB Milton | 2023 State GA and Robert Billings Robert Billings 6'1" | 185 lbs | DB Milton | 2023 State GA , and Lewis could be the next dynamic defensive back to emerge for the Eagles. The 6-foot-1 170-pounder has length, ball skills, and natural athleticism that will translate well not only for for the rest of his Milton career, but for the next level as well. He’s quick, twitchy, and knows how to make a play on the ball. He’s a natural in coverage and has plenty of size to match up with bigger receivers that he’ll be going against. He plays the ball well, shows consistent hands, and he’s one of the more versatile players for his age in the North Fulton area. Look for his offer list to expand sooner than later.
Tyler Redmond Tyler Redmond 6'0" | 170 lbs | ATH Milton | 2025 State GA – St. Francis
It’s hard to find another 2025 defensive back in Fulton County who looks as good physically as Redmond. He’s long, athletic, and already holds early offer from Florida and N.C State. The 6-foot-1 165-pounder has a long, lean frame with the ability to add more muscle and mass over the next several years. He had 4 INTs last year as a freshman and will be a quarterback’s worst nightmare if they decide to test him next fall. He has impressive ball skills and the ability to play both receiver and safety this upcoming season. He looks the part, he’s athletic, has ball skills, and has a very high ceiling. Look for him to have a giant sophomore season and we expect him to see more and more offers come his way over the next several years.
Deuce Wimberly – Westlake
Another tough, physical defensive back in the Atlanta area, Wimberly knows how to wrap up and make a big tackle for someone his age. He reacts quickly, has some length to his frame and does a nice job of knocking the ball away from receivers. He’s a smart, young player on a loaded Westlake squad, so you know he’s going to be coached correctly and be ready for the season, even as a sophomore. He holds an early offer from FSU and more could be on the way after a big 2022 season. It’s easy to see his potential and he’s an easy breakout defensive back candidate playing for Westlake.
