Sunday News and Notes 7-17-22

The Natural State witnessed a busy week last week and we are going to look back over a busy Southwest Elite 7-on-7 tournament and plenty of recruiting news. We are going to look at a few standouts from this past week as we start to shift our focus to the upcoming season. Over the next few weeks, Prep RedZone Arkansas will start taking a looking the conferences throughout the state and we will be giving you coverage up to and including the state championship games in the fall. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="75133" first="Eli" last="Wisdom"]-Quarterback-Shiloh Christian-2023</strong> One player that was clicking on all strides during the Southwest Elite tournament was Shiloh signal caller [player_tooltip player_id="75133" first="Eli" last="Wisdom"]. Wisdom was fitting the ball into some tight windows and doing a great job of connecting with his wide receivers. Wisdom’s skill of being able to throw while on the run is going to present plenty of problems for opposing teams this upcoming season. With scholarship offers from Tulane and Central Florida to his credit, Wisdom is setting the stage for a big senior season with the Saints. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="104623" first="Wills" last="Gullic"]-Offensive Line-Blytheville-2023</strong> Gullic has had an extremely strong offseason over the summer. He has good speed, and he mixes it well with his power. Gullic is an extremely strong offensive lineman and can take a game over with his run blocking. From the pass blocking perspective, Gullic’s footwork makes it difficult for opposing defensive linemen to get around him. Gullic is an offensive lineman that had a strong a showing at the Cornell camp yesterday. Keep an eye on Gullic this season. <strong>Bodie Neal-Wide Receiver-Shiloh Christian-2023</strong> The Shiloh Christian Saints displayed plenty of firepower on the offensive side of the ball during the Southwest Elite tournament. Bodie Neal was all over the field for the Saints and found the end zone eight times. Neal is a prospect that runs smooth routes and has a knack for getting open. Meanwhile, he is a wide receiver that is an unselfish player and does not mind blocking for his teammates. Look for a big season from the Saints and Neal as well this upcoming season. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="178752" first="Hunter" last="Ferrell"]-Quarterback-Bauxite-2023</strong> [player_tooltip player_id="178752" first="Hunter" last="Ferrell"] is a quarterback that folks are going to want to pay attention to this season. Ferrell has a strong arm and knows when to get rid of the football. He has impressive mobility in the pocket and is not afraid to use his legs to pick up first downs. Ferrell not only looked impressive last week in team camps he also earned a scholarship offer from Hendrix College in the process. I expect the Miners and Ferrell both to have strong seasons this season. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="384772" first="Cam" last="Burks"]-Quarterback-Fordyce-2025</strong> One prospect to watch out for that is coming up through the ranks is Fordyce signal caller [player_tooltip player_id="384772" first="Cam" last="Burks"]. Burks has an accurate arm that. He can fit the ball into some tight windows. A facet of his game that has been overlooked is just how strong an arm Burks has. The Redbugs of Fordyce always have talented players and Burks is going to be one to watch out for over the next few years. I expect Burks to open some eyes, if he hasn’t already over the next few weeks.
