Jashawn Cooper Jashawn Cooper 6'1" | 220 lbs | LB Montgomery Academy | 2024 State AL 6’0 230 DE/OLB
Cooper is a game wrecker that can get after the passer with the best of them. With an elite first step, he presents problems for opposing linemen. Shows great explosiveness and quick-twitch when bending the corner, using juke moves to beat blockers, and beating opposing linemen to the spot. This elite burst can also be seen when he covers running backs out the backfield and forces incompletions. With his dynamic play on the defensive end, Cooper is also a dominant running back who can carry a team to success. His size, acceleration, and physicality allow him to be a man among boys with the rock in his hands and a big-time playmaker. His north and south running style make him dangerous when running between the tackles. This, in addition to his frame and contact balance, makes him a matchup nightmare. As a complete two-way player and the unquestioned catalyst of the offense and defense, look for Cooper to be the head of the snake and dominate on both sides of the ball.

Kameron Tuck 5’10 160 DB
Tuck is an athletic ball hawk who plays with speed and instinct. He is always at the right place and time to make the big play. In coverage, he shows a receiver the ability to track the ball, adjust to it, and make a play on it. He’s an explosive leaper that can play above the field and high point the ball. He also has a knack for making spectacular interceptions due to his hand-eye coordination and catching ability. In coverage, Tuck uses his speed to excel at breaking on the ball. Even when beat, he can recover and contest catches at a high rate. This makes him a highly effective zone corner where he can read and react and defend vertical routes at a high level. In addition to this, he’s a willing contributor in the run game that can contain the edge and force runs back inside. Look for Tuck to be the primary playmaker in the secondary and critical contributor for Montgomery Academy.

Zach Underwood Zach Underwood 6'2" | 225 lbs | LB Montgomery Catholic | 2023 State AL 6’2 220 DE/OLB
Underwood is a run stopper from the edge position. Shows burst in short area situations and an ability to shuffle his way into place to make a play. Underwood is very disciplined and plays within his assignment. He’s constantly setting the edge, attacking the upfield shoulder, keeping his outside arm free, and beating running backs to the spot. Underwood’s consistency as a setter allows the defense to rally to the ball and mitigate big plays on the ground, which is imperative when constructing a great defense. In addition to his run-stopping abilities, he’s adept at dropping off into pass coverage and making plays in the flats and hook zone areas. Look for Underwood to be a consistent contributor in the fall.

Owen Johson 5’11 260 OL/DL
Johnson is a two Tackle who uses his strength and grit to be an impact player on both sides of the ball and an anchor at the line of scrimmage. He plays bigger than his listed size, which allows him to fluctuate throughout the line and be effective at all spots. Defensively he can be a second pass rusher who can compliment a more dominant lineman. Uses straight power rushes and bull rushes to collapse pockets both on the edge and interior. In the run game, he can anchor the middle, take on double teams, and still get penetration. Offensively he shows mobility and the quickness to be an elite lead blocker while clearing the way on perimeter-based runs and plays. This versatile skill set is going to be crucial to the success of the Eagles.
