The staff at Prep RedZone Arkansas are able to witness firsthand at practices, tournaments, and in games during the fall. In this update of the Prep RedZone rankings we topped the 300 mark for the class of 2023 and had plenty of new prospects join the list. We are going to look at some of the newcomers to the 2023 prospect list.
Brandon Scott Brandon Scott 6'0" | 175 lbs | QB Charleston | 2023 State AR -Quarterback-Charleston-6’0” 175-Pounds
The Charleston Tigers signal caller has the incredible talent of being able to extend the play long enough to find an open wide receiver. Scott does a good job of spreading the football around to his wide receivers. He is a quarterback that does not hesitate to escape the pocket and use his legs to extend drives. Scott is a quarterback that has the arm strength and accuracy to connect with his wide receivers. I look for Scott and Charleston to have a strong 2022 season and he is a prospect to keep an eye on this season.
Blake Hegwood Blake Hegwood 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR Pine Bluff | 2023 State AR -Wide Receiver-Pine Bluff-6’2” 175-Pounds
Blake Hegwood Blake Hegwood 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR Pine Bluff | 2023 State AR is a wide receiver that has the speed to stretch the field for the Pine Bluff Zebras. He has impressive athletic ability and does not seem to have a problem going up and hauling in the reception. Hegwood can run the shorter routes and get open in the process. Meanwhile, the Pine Bluff wide receiver has the speed to stretch the field vertically. Hegwood has the potential to have a strong season for the Zebras and I look for him to have one this season.
KyVeon Perkins KyVeon Perkins 5'11" | 175 lbs | DB Northside | 2023 State AR -Defensive Back-Little Rock Parkview-5’11” 175-Pounds
The versatility that Perkins has is extremely impressive. He can play the cornerback or safety positions with equal effectiveness. When the ball is in the air, Perkins does an excellent job of batting the ball away or picking off the pass. Perkins is a defensive back that is not afraid to deliver a hit. He does not shy away from making the tackle. I look for Perkins to have an impressive senior season and to play on Saturdays in the future.
Hunt Harrison Hunt Harrison 6'2" | 215 lbs | LB Pulaski Academy | 2023 State AR -Linebacker-Pulaski Academy-6’2” 215-Pounds
When you turn on the film to watch Hunt Harrison Hunt Harrison 6'2" | 215 lbs | LB Pulaski Academy | 2023 State AR , the first thing you notice is that he is all over the field for the Bruins. Harrison racked up 86.5 tackles last season and has the potential to exceed those numbers this season. He plays with good speed and reads the play quickly. Harrison does a good job of fending off blocks and getting into the offensive backfield. Pulaski Academy always has a team to watch out for and this season should not be any different. I look for Harrison to have a strong season for the Bruins’ defense this season.
Kennedy Stockton Kennedy Stockton 6'5" | 255 lbs | OL Sheridan | 2023 State AR -Offensive Line-Sheridan-6’5” 255-Pounds
Kennedy Stockton Kennedy Stockton 6'5" | 255 lbs | OL Sheridan | 2023 State AR is an offensive lineman that is comfortable playing multiple positions along the offensive line. He has quick feet and does an impressive job of getting into the opposing defensive lineman. Stockton looks to finish every block and then proceeds to find another defensive player to block. Stockton is impressive from a run and pass blocking perspective, and I look for him to have another impressive season this upcoming season. Keep an eye on Stockton this season.
