(OL) Joseph Kingston Joseph Kingston 6'3" | 295 lbs | OL Ankeny | 2023 State IA – 6’3, 205 – Ankeny High School
One of the critical aspects of strong offensive line play is physicality, and Joseph completely embodies the physical lifestyle of offensive linemen. Joseph has a knack for getting downhill and playing under his opponents, making it easy for him to move anyone lined across from them. In addition, he has no problem owning the line of scrimmage with good foot drive and hand placement. Coupled with his physicality and drive, Joseph is very skilled with his eye discipline and the ability to find work. With all this said, Joseph looks to be one of the critical pieces for Ankeny High School this season and has an extensive career ahead of him.
(DL) Zavion McMurran Zavion McMurran 6'2" | 220 lbs | DL Estherville Lincoln Central | 2023 State IA – 6’2, 220 – Estherville Lincoln Central High School
After reviewing the film from Zavion’s previous season, it is clear that he is one of the state’s most versatile and athletic defensive ends. His film features him in various positions where he competes at a very high level. Zavion has the speed to keep up with anyone coming out of the backfield and the agility to react to the play coming at him. Another key attribute of Zavion’s is his vision. He does a great job of diagnosing the play and finding a way to get to the ball as quickly as possible. Zavion is a crucial piece to ELC’s defense. I am expecting a breakout year for Zavion in 2022.
(OL) Beau Knobloch Beau Knobloch 6'4" | 280 lbs | OL Winterset | 2023 State IA – 6’4, 280 – Winterset High School
After a strong 2021 campaign, Beau shows why he is one of the best offensive linemen in the state of Iowa. As one of the more versatile offensive linemen I’ve seen in this class, Beau can pull, block, and pass protect at an elite level. With his big frame, Beau does a great job of clearing paths for the ball carriers to get through. As a puller, he has a unique talent for finding his target and clearing them out of the way for the ball carrier. However, my favorite attribute of Beau’s motor and physicality. Beau is always trying to find a way into the play so he can help his teammates advance the ball towards the endzone. I expect a big year for Beau and a bright future ahead of him.
(DL) David Borchers David Borchers 6'3" | 260 lbs | DL North Scott | 2023 State IA – 6’3, 260 – North Scott High School
David is another very impressive defensive lineman that I found. His film features him playing as an interior and exterior defensive line at a very high level. His size and his explosiveness make it difficult for anyone to block him. His tenacious play allows him to get in on a play no matter the ball’s location on the field. David also has a knack for getting his eyes into the backfield quickly. His eye discipline allows him to find the ball and attack as quickly as possible. After watching his film, I expect David to continue to dominate the trenches in the upcoming season and more post-season honors to come his way.
