The 2022 version of this game features athletes in the 8th grade (2026), 7th grade (2027) and 6th grade (class of 2028) in the states from Georgia, Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina. Below, here’s a look at the athletes that stood out from the Florida eighth-grade team during the practices.
Leandro De Carvalho | Kicker
Kid was a secret weapon for the eighth-grade Florida Future Stars team. Whether it was directional kick-offs, squib kicks or a traditional kick-off, De Carvalho made it look very easy. On the final practices ahead of game day, coaches spent a lot of time on Special Teams and it became quickly apparent that De Carvalho could help this team out. Had the leg to hit from 40-yards on Field Goals. Can’t say enough about the options he opened up for the Florida Future Stars.
Je’Kai Dawson | Offensive Line
The eighth-grade Florida Future Stars team had a pretty big Offensive Line across the front. While I didn’t get to see them do much one-on-one work, I did see some things I liked out of Dawson during the team periods. He’s on the roster at 6-foot-1 and 215-pounds, but looked both taller and heavier. Very good, athletic frame that looks like it could translate to playing multiple positions across the front depending on how big he gets through high school
Christ Charles | Offensive Line
Another of the big bodies up front for the eighth-grade Florida Future Stars that caught my eye on more than one occasion, in the limited live reps I saw the line do. He’s a thick, wide-body, listed at 6-foot and 285 pounds on the roster. To me, looks more like a future interior Defensive Tackle, but Charles spent his practice time as an Offensive Tackle. Moved his feet pretty well, relative to his size and age.
Batuhan Subasi | Defensive Line
A very good looking 2026 prospect, at 6-foot-3 and 220-pounds. Looks like an ideal future Tight End/Defensive End combination type of player. On an eighth grade Florida Future Stars team that was comprised of a bunch of athletes with similar builds, Subasi was one of the only prospects with some bulk in addition to his height. Used his quickness and strength well rushing off the edge.
Freddie Grace | Athlete
Grace had a similar build to many of the eighth-grade Florida Future Stars team members. Listed at 5-foot-10 and 162-pounds, I saw him play a number of positions during practice on the second day. I asked him what his main positions were and he said “everything.” Versatile kid that I could tell eventually spent most his time as a Linebacker/Fullback type of kid. Watching his smooth-yet-physical style of play, I can easily see him transitioning to be an Outside Linebacker full time, as he develops.
