The state of Maryland is one of the most talented states in the country and has a long history of producing dominant athletes in every sport, including football. There are numerous towns and cities across the talent-rich state including the larger metropolitan areas of Baltimore, DC, Western Maryland, and the Eastern Shore. Here is the Pre-Season First Team 3A Maryland All State Defense.
<strong>Oluwademilade "David" Omopariola | 6’4’’ 250 lbs | Defensive Line | Woodlawn High School</strong>
David is a versatile athlete who causes a mismatch for most offensive linemen. His combination of speed and power makes him a force coming off of the edge. His recruiting has picked up as he has performed well during this camp season. He currently holds offers from Temple and Georgetown.
<strong><span style="color: #333333; font-family: proxima-nova, Arial, sans-serif;">[player_tooltip player_id="263165" first="Dominic" last="Nichols"] | 6’5’’ 235 | Defensive Line | Oakdale High School</span></strong>
Nichols has great size and is the prototype that college coaches look for. It’s not a shock that he already has 10 offers from schools like Buffalo, Michigan State, Pitt, Temple, UConn, UMass, Ole Miss, Kent State, and more.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="354349" first="Chase" last="Haught"] | 6’2’’ 290 lbs | Defensive Line | Oakdale High School</strong>
Haught is a force to reckon with on both sides of the ball. For the past two seasons he has been named 1st Team All County as an Offense Linemen, and recently he was able to add BTC Super 22 Team Defensive Lineman to his resume.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="243966" first="Joel" last="Hopkins"] | 6’ 275 lbs | Defensive Line | Linganore High School</strong>
Hopkins was named First Team All County, 3A West All Region Defensive Team, and BTC Super 22 last season. A dominant force on the line of scrimmage, Hopkins led the Lancers to an undefeated regular season and a State Championship appearance last season before losing to Northern High School.
<strong><span class="pn-player-link"><span class="name-pointer">[player_tooltip player_id="209043" first="Dillon" last="Dunathan"]</span></span> | 6’2’’ 230 lbs | Linebacker | Damascus High School (MD)</strong>
Dunathan earned 1st Team All County honors as a Linebacker and Running Back. He was also named All County MVP, 1st Team All State, and All Met Honorable Mention. He has offers from Rhode Island, Fordham, Elon, and St. Francis.
<strong>Martin Lunsford | 6’ 190 lbs | Linebacker | Marriots Ridge High School</strong>
Lunsford is the leading returning tackler in all of Maryland 3A. He finished last season with 83 Tackles, 4 Tackles For A Loss, and 2 Sacks. Marriots Ridge didn’t have a good season last year, but Lunsford is looking to help turn it around.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="278666" first="Awwal" last="Osinuga"] | 6’ 220 lbs | Linebacker | St. Charles High School</strong>
Awwal was a force for opposing offenses last season and is the leading returner in sacks from last season. He secured 71 Tackles and 7 Tackles For A Loss to go along with 11 Sacks. He led St. Charles to a 6-4 record and the second round of the State Playoffs before losing to the eventual champion, Northern High School.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="278605" first="Travon" last="Neal"] | 6’1’’ 175 lbs | Defensive Back | Frederick High School</strong>
Neal was named First Team All State. He was responsible for 1,088 Receiving Yards, 59 Receptions, 1,700 Plus All Purpose Yards, and 19 Touchdowns on offense. On defense, he contributed with 46 Tackles, 10 Pass Break Ups, 2 Forced Fumbles, 1 Fumble Recovery, and 8 Interceptions.
<strong>Keyon Washington | 6’ 170 lbs | Defensive Back | St. Charles High School</strong>
Washington is a young, shut down Defensive Back who plays with a chip on his shoulder. Has great ball skills and does a good job of attacking the ball. He already has an offer From Toledo.
<strong>Evan Austin | 6’ 175 lbs | Defensive Back | Oakdale High School</strong>
Austin is force for Oakdale on both sides of the ball. He’s just as dangerous at receiver as his at defensive back. He has racked up numerous offers from programs like Buffalo, Akron, Toledo, Uconn, Virginia Tech, Pitt, Maryland, Boston College, and Kent State.
<strong>Will Burns | 5’10’’ 160 lbs | Defensive Back | Wilde Lake High School </strong>
Burns has a great deal of speed that allows him to cover plenty of ground from the Safety position. He play with a high IQ and can also come down to support in the run game. He was named to the Baltimore Touchdown Club’s Super 22 Team and presently holds an offer from Wheeling University.
