Continue ReadingWest Point has been to the state championship six years straight. Their studs roll in and out everyday over in the GTA. Their history is very rich and they love to run the ball with good defense to top it off. Speaking of defense, they have a new defensive coordinator who is very familiar with the community. They are returning two thousand yard rushers on offense. Coach Chris Chambliss looks to get his team back to Hattiesburg this year. The Green Wave have lost the state title game two years in a row. Let’s see how this year will pan out.
Keshawn Henley Keshawn Henley 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB West Point | 2023 MS , 5-10 180, RB, 2023
Keshawn is one of the fastest RBs in the state. This kid becomes very explosive when the football touches his hands. Last year he rushed for over 1200 yards. If you watch his film you will see him score a 95 yard touchdown run. He went about eighty five of those yards untouched. Henley is going to bring a lot of excitement to this offense. He lives in the end zone and he has nice vision. The cuts he makes are amazing and he has very good acceleration after he changes directions. I think he can easily go for 1500 this year.
Kahnen Daniels Kahnen Daniels 6'1" | 185 lbs | RB West Point | 2024 State MS , 6-1 185, ATH, 2024
Kahnen is a kid who is flying under the radar in the class of 2024. This is an amazing player that everyone needs to be talking about. Kid rushed for a thousand yards last season in that unorthodox offense that West Point runs. He even added on a few hundred passing yards and some passing TDs. Kahnen is a player that can break the game open at anytime. He has some wheels on him running that 4.5. It wouldn’t be hard to imagine that as a 4.4 in game speed. When he takes off for a long touchdown he leaves his opponents in the dust. He makes super great cuts and has nice vision. He is a guy that will bring experience to their squad from last season. Daniels should come on the scene this year and earn a lot of offers. He had a great summer of camps and was able to get his name out there. He seems to be a guy that would make a good WR or DB on the next level. Has some great hips and changes directions very well.
Que Tillman, 6-1 205, QB, 2024
Que doesn’t get a chance to throw a lot, but when he does he makes it look good. This is a guy that will keep the troops on offense calm, cool and collected. Tillman is a player that brings confidence to the game in a laid back type of way. He will add another element to the West Point offense. They may not throw it much, but the Green Wave is a town full of talent that has it all over the field. When they need somebody to toss it around and get their Brady on, Tillman is who they call. I love that he is taking the time to work on his passing development. He doesn’t allow their heavy run game to keep him from working on him becoming better. Never know when they may call his number. He stays ready so he does not have to get ready.
Jhace Mallard, 6-0 200, LB, 2023
Jhace is a true West Point defender. What does that mean? Let me tell you. Jhace is a guy that doesn’t mind getting a few strawberries on his elbows. He is a guy that stays in your business when you line up across from him. The kid knows how to read keys. He isn’t out there playing pee wee football and just taking off when the ball is snapped. Kid has some skill and he knows how to push downhill. Mallard packs a mean punch when he hits. You can see from his film that he knows how to time a blitz. There are a lot of plays where he zips by the offensive line and gets to the QB untouched. He is the leader of that LB core. He knows how to be in the right place at the right time. Mallard could easily get 100 tackles this season. He has that type of motor and energy the Green Wave fans love.
Zayvian Lowery, 6-3 275, DL, 2024
Zay holds it down in the trenches for West Point. Big guy is going to be a major force in the running game. There won’t be many guys that can defeat him. He gets a nice drive off the ball and he is very strong. Zay has some long arms that help him get a nice look in the backfield. Those strong legs are behind him helping make a way for him and his LB to make some plays in the backfield. Zay can be a factor in the pass rush, but stopping the run is his thing.
