This is going to be a long series of new additions to our rankings to make sure that each young man is highlighted. That being said, there are P5 caliber recruits down to D3/JUCO recruits. The moral of the story, each of these young men did the work and deserved a spot in our rankings. We’re here to highlight their hard work. Without further ado, let’s take a look at Pt. 1 of our New Additions to the 24′ Rankings.
Marquise Lightfoot Marquise Lightfoot 6'5" | 225 lbs | DL Kenwood Academy | 2024 State IL Twitter
Mr. Lightfoot saw his stock rise after his Sophomore season campaign and heading into camp season racking up multiple P5 offers. What stands out about this young man is his high motor paired with his quick first step off the edge both in run support and in his pass rush. Whether the play is coming towards him or doing away from him, he doesn’t give up on the play and can close quickly to secure the tackle. Let’s not forget about his ability to work down the line of scrimmage to work across the offensive tackle’s face as he dives into the B gap to secure tackle the line of scrimmage for no gain on plays. Overall, his explosiveness off the edge and potential to the next level is immersive as he has room to add to his frame without losing a step.
Ethan Middleton Ethan Middleton 5'11" | 185 lbs | ATH Kenwood Academy | 2024 State IL Twitter
Mr. Middleton is just starting to scratch the surface with his skill set and how impactful he can be on the offensive side of the ball. Once he secures the handoff he can use his vision to find the running lane both between the tackles and outside the tackle runs as well as finding the alley in open space. What’s impressive is his foot quicks to get through the hole as he can not only gain a step on the 2nd level defenders for a big gain on the play but he can take those long runs to the house for six. I’m very interested to see how his skill set translates to the air attack and how he produces being in the backfield full time with the departure of Standout Ohio State University Commit Kaleb Brown. Mr. Middleton currently holds an offer from Penn State University, look for more to pull the trigger to offer this young man after this fall season.
Leontre Bradford Leontre Bradford 6'0" | 185 lbs | DB East St. Louis | 2024 State IL Twitter
Mr. Bradford is impressive to say the least, this young man can work as a linebacker as well as a safety. Both of which he utilizes his closing speed to make a play on the ball. When he’s in the box he can trigger downhill quickly in close space to blow up plays in the backfield and he can use his lateral quickness to stop the ball carrier from turning the corner as well. When he’s a single high safety, he uses his fluid hips to cover sideline to sideline where he can cover ground quickly and make a play on the ball. Mr. Bradford is just starting to showcase his full skill set, look for his production numbers to increase this fall season and more P5 programs to offer him as a result. Overall, this young man is a hybrid type player that can make his impact felt in the box and single high covering sideline to sideline. Keep an eye on him this fall as he and East St. Louis look to get back to the 6A IHSA State Championship. Currently holds a handful of P5 offers.
Elijah Romeus Elijah Romeus 6'0" | 190 lbs | DB Fenwick | 2024 State IL Twitter
Mr. Romeus can line up at various positions as a defensive back, all of which he can trigger downhill quickly closing space to secure the tackle in open space. I’ve seen this young man in person at our PRZ IL Showcase and he didn’t disappoint. His fluid flip of his hips to transition when covering deep shots downfield is one to keep an eye on as he takes good breaks on the ball to make a play – either coming away with an interception or PBU. He can also be a threat when utilized on offense at various positions to further showcase his playmaking skill set. Overall, look for this young man to continue to catch college coach’s eyes after his fall season performance. I wouldn’t be surprised if Mr. Romeus ends up with an offer or two as a result of his productive fall season.
Tim Savchuk Tim Savchuk 6'4" | 270 lbs | OL Oswego East | 2024 State IL Twitter
Mr. Savchuk is a young man that I’ve had on my radar for some time now and one that continues to impress. Once he’s latched onto the defenders it’s hard to disengage. He does so by maintaining his leverage out of his stance and having a forceful strike on the defender to jolt the defender at the point of attack. This young man also provides glimpses into his ability to get to 2nd level blocks to tie up the linebacker creating an alley for his teammate to hit. In pass protection, he does provide glimpses of mirroring the rushing defender which he uses to tie up the pass rush to keep the pocket clean. Overall, he has the edge in run blocking with his aggressiveness and attacking play style. Don’t miss out on this young man, he has the potential to be a dominant run blocker at the next level. Keep a very close eye on Mr. Savchuk.
