This is going to be a long series of new additions to our rankings to make sure that each young man is highlighted. That being said, there are P5 caliber recruits down to D3/JUCO recruits. The moral of the story, each of these young men did the work and deserved a spot in our rankings. We’re here to highlight their hard work. Without further ado, let’s take a look at Pt. 1 of our New Additions to the 23′ Rankings.
Mr. Caldwell is one heck of a halfback, this young man’s foot quick through the line of scrimmage are impressive to say the least. Once he clears the line of scrimmage, he has the vision to fin cutback lanes in open space as well as uses his foot quick to outrun 2nd level defenders breaking longs runs for six. Once the ball is in his hands, he changes gears quickly showcasing his quick twitch and cand change direction in an instant. What’s equally as impressive is how this young man plays through contact by keeing his feet driving to fight for extra yards showcasing his physicality as well. Overall, this young man has the capability to break a long run each time the ball is in his hands and he flashes his hands in the air attack as well securing underneath routes when coming out of the backfield. If he’s not already on your radar, he needs to be.
Mr. Smith can line up at H back at times where he’s utilized as a lead blocker through the hole to create running lanes for the halfback. When he’s blocking in-line he can get to the 2nd level blocks by working up to tie up the linebacker through the whistle. One area that’s one to keep an eye on is his drive blocking as once he latches on he keeps his feet driving through the whistle pushing the defender 5+ yards downfield on the given play. In the air attack, he can secure the catch in traffic across the middle of the field and can hold on even with a defender on his back. At times, he will line up in the slot to run underneath rotues as a checkdown for his quarterback. This young man also flashes his ability to check and release across the middle of the field as he finds the soft spot in zone coverage. Overall, this young man is quick out of his stance when lined up at tight end and can make his mark both in the air attack as well as in run blocking.
Mr. McNeil lines up as a 7 tech where he can bring pressure off the edge. He does so by utilizing his quick first step out of his stance to beat the offensive tackle to the turn point before the offensive lineman is set to block. Once he turns the corner he can close quickly on the quarterback to generate pressure as well as come away with the sack. This young man also flashes his ability to disengage run blocks at the point of attack to secure the tackle at the line of scrimmage while he plugs the B gap. He can also take pursuit angles flat down the line of scrimmage to limit the ball carrier and scrambling quarterback to turn the corner. Overall, keep an eye on how this young man produces this fall season as you could very well see his stock rise and recruiting pick up as a result. He’s also a long snapper too.
Mr. Hall can work both as a 7 tech and a 3 tech on the defensive front. When you turn on his highlights you can see the potential that he flashes and the type of player he can mold into. He flashes his ability to plug gaps in run support at the line of scrimmage as well as disengaging blocks to secure the tackle near the line of scrimmage. Standing at 6’5 255, he has a good frame to disrupt the run as well as be a two gap defender. What I’m interested to see come to light further out of this young man is his pass rush and ability to disrupt plays in the backfield once he shoots the gap. He flashes both of those skill sets in his highlights below and I’m very interested to see how much of his untapped potential comes to light this fall season. Overall, this young man has potential both on the defensive front as well as an offensive tackle and I’m looking forward to his fall season.
Mr. Marrero is an offentive tackle that is quick out of his stance and aggressive at the point of attack. When he square pulls, he can trap the defensive tackle and knock the defender on his back with the strong punch he delivers upon initial contact. Moral of the stroy, this young man throws defenders into the dirt repeatedly in his highlights below. He can also block in open space. Here, he can get out to the cornerback and put the defender into the dirt upon initla contact. What stands out the most about this young man is how he finishes plays by driving his feet through the whistle. On multuple occasions in his highlights below he finishes by plays by either pancaking defenders or driving the defender 10+ yards downfield through the whistle. Overall, put this young man on your radar if he isn’t already.
Mr. Johnson is an offensive tackle that’s quick out of his stance which he uses to his advantage to get hands inside quickly before he washes the defensive lineman down on the play. This young man is aggressive at the point of attack as after he uses his strong punch to jolt the defender upright he keeps his feet driving through the whistle and finishes the play by putting the defender into the dirt. Turn on his film and you’ll see just how good of a run blocker this young man is. What’s also impressive is his ability to block in open space where he can blow up either the outside linebacker or cornerback on receiver screens giving the receiver an alley to run through. Overall, this is another talented offensive tackle that I’m excited to see compete this fall and am expecting his recruiting stock to rise once the fall season is over.
