We check out some of the best defensive linemen in our 2025 rankings!

[player_tooltip player_id='216858' first='Jourdin' last='Crawford'] Jackson-Olin

We have had eyes on [player_tooltip player_id='216858' first='Jourdin' last='Crawford'] for a while, and rightfully so. As a freshman, he was explosive in the trenches for Jackson Olin, and with the potential he presented last year, the sky is the limit. Crawford has a terrific burst off of the line of scrimmage, generates a ton of power, and can straight up flatten offensive linemen, allowing him to completely destroy the run and pass. Crawford constantly is able to take down RBs for loss and generates great pressure on the QB, both of which allowed the Jackson-Olin front to be as dominant as it was last fall. After his stellar freshman season, Crawford currently lists offers from Michigan, Oklahoma, Mississippi State, and more- with the talent this guy has heading into his sophomore year, expect to see that list grow even more.

[player_tooltip player_id='228979' first='Jared' last='Smith'] Spain Park

[player_tooltip player_id='228979' first='Jared' last='Smith'] had a huge freshman year, but has had an even bigger offseason- tons of top programs across the nation have taken notice to him and have sent offers his way. Smith is absolutely massive, standing at 6'6 230 as a freshman is absurd, and Smith is sure to use every bit of that size to his advantage. With how physically imposing he is Smith can either overpower opposing tackles with his strength or beat them with some finesse by using his long arms to rip by and make plays in the backfield. Smith has a great motor as well that enables him to pursue and take down the ball carrier easily, and is able to consistently go 100% all game. As mentioned earlier, this offseason has been huge for Smith as he has added all of his offers since late April, with LSU, Georgia, Auburn, and other top-tier programs all sending them his way in the last few weeks.

[player_tooltip player_id='276200' first='Grayshaun' last='Swain'] Anniston

[player_tooltip player_id='276200' first='Grayshaun' last='Swain'] is a really talented defensive lineman that made a huge impact for Anniston last fall, and throughout the year, he demonstrated a ton of great things on tape. The first thing that you notice when watching Swain play, is the rare combination of size, speed, and pursuit he possesses. Swain's motor is unmatched by everyone else on the field- he can constantly be found flying off the edge into the backfield, moving sideline to sideline to locate the ball carrier, and generally just putting in all the effort possible into making tackles/plays all across the field. Quickly towards the end of his freshmen campaign, schools started showing interest, and Swain currently lists offers from Auburn, Kentucky, Lousiville, and more, as the underclassman continues to make strides on the recruiting trail.

[player_tooltip player_id='216874' first='Malik' last='Autry'] Opelika

[player_tooltip player_id='216874' first='Malik' last='Autry'] is another huge lineman that's been on the uprise after his first year at Opelika. Autry is huge, his 6'6 260 frame easily separates him as one of if not the biggest players on the field, and it definitely comes to good use for him. Autry has an incredible amount of strength/power that is a massive advantage for him when playing against the run. Autry bullies offensive linemen and is able to close gaps and take down the ball carrier super easily with his range and explosiveness off of the line of scrimmage. Autry has had a productive offseason this summer/spring, receiving offers from Louisville, Kentucky, Michigan since early March.

[player_tooltip player_id='216875' first='Zion' last='Grady'] Charles Henderson

[player_tooltip player_id='216875' first='Zion' last='Grady'] was dominant throughout year one, with his talents, Charles Henderson's defensive front is going to be a tough unit to face for the next few seasons. Grady is a phenomenal tackler, he can track and down, pursue, and take down anyone in his vicinity- he does a great job with finishing plays, and if he's let into the backfield he causes chaos for offenses. Throughout his freshman season, Grady was able to tally up 60 tackles (10 TFLs) and 6 sacks in just 6 games last year- and with the impact, he made in just a small sample size like that, Grady is set up for a big year this season. After such a productive first year Grady has received offers from Auburn, Troy, Alabama State, and others, as he heads into his sophomore season, expect to see that list grow more and more.
