Kyan Barth Kyan Barth QB Bismarck Century | 2023 State | QB | Bismarck Century (ND) | 2023
Kyan was a prospect that we have on our 2023 watchlist and is a QB prospect that will bloom high in his senior season for the Patriots. Kyan shows off a quick release that can get the ball out quite quickly and has a lot of pop in his ball especially on short, well-contested routes. He’ll need to develop this offseason on his touch ball from those shorter routes, as he has a one-level throw speed at the moment. Kyan also exceled on intermediate routes, as he got several reps to see the difference in his abilities from the start of the Jimmies prospect camp to the end. If he can keep developing on those touch routes and work on those arm mechanics, there is no doubt this kid will be playing on Saturdays.
Hunter Abraham Hunter Abraham 6'0" | 150 lbs | LB Garretson | 2023 State | LB/RB | Garretson (SD) | 2023
Hunter showed off a natural twitch in his hips when changing directions from my viewing of his from the Jimmies prospect camp on Thursday. That was by far the best skillset he possessed with that locked in footwork he showed in Jamestown. He showed another speed when it came into 1v1s as he showed a instinctive attack mode when pressing the gas on that next level skill. With Hunter, you get a sideline to sideline linebacker that has a huge radius he can cover. His biggest development comes from the RB position, as he’s quick off his burst but has room for development with his vision at attacking the hole while working on his balance to be able to use that change of direction he shows off at linebacker. Hunter showed that he will be a stockriser in our upcoming August 2023 rankings update, as he struck another level with his game he showed off in Jamestown.
Jacob Van Lith | LB | South O’Brien (IA) | 2023
If you follow my Twitter feed from Thursday, you would know by now that Jacob Van Lith’s tape lines up very well with what I saw in the reps I got from the Jamestown Jimmies prospect camp. His heavy contact level he showed in Indy drills and 1v1s can be described as lethal, as you did not ever see him let up one bit from what I grasped from my time in Jamestown. He’s another twitchy linebacker on this list, that showed a significant turn in his lower body while addressing high directional speed to go to either side. He’s got this summer to work on getting off quicker with his shedding ability and adding 15-25 pounds at max, but with an offer on the table already, this dude is set up for a very STRONG senior season at South O’Brien that will be playing on Saturdays in the near future.
Gavin Benck Gavin Benck 6'2" | 195 lbs | TE Deuel | 2023 State | WR/TE | Deuel (SD) | 2023
Gavin was one of the new names I caught from last Thursday at the Jimmies prospect camp, and showed some impressive ability on the turf. For playing at 6’2 195 pounds I thought Gavin showed off some solid burst for that size as a wide receiver. This young man still has some raw skill that is still untapped when it comes to his change of the direction speed, and growing more finished speed with his route-running, but with some great coaching he should tune that up nicely this offseason going into his senior season for the Deuel Cardinals. He also shows nice balanced feet around the sidelines on tape. I believe we found another small town prospect on this list that will be playing on Saturdays in my eyes.
Bo Nelson Bo Nelson 6'0" | 215 lbs | OL Jamestown | 2024 State ND | OL | Jamestown (ND) | 2024
I have gotten to watch Bo before on tape, but this was my first live evaluation of this young man. He didn’t just show off a stout frame, he showed off excellent determination near the end of the Jamestown Jimmies prospect camp. In the last looks of the day, Bo showed juiced up stamina to fight with his Jamestown teammate for at least a good 10+ minutes to until the end of the rep and showed what I love out of watching linemen, wrestling-type moves to finish the rep on the turf in which he continued his gritty ability to work the rope to his advantage. Could I tell you the exact name of the drill to end the camp? No, but man did this kid turn the page on his development in my eyes as we look at his upcoming future. Yet another prospect that rose his stock in our 2024 rankings based on his dedication on that one rep alone.
Payton Hochhalter Payton Hochhalter 6'2" | 190 lbs | QB Jamestown | 2023 State | QB | Jamestown (ND) | 2023
If I was giving out an award from QB MVP it was by far have to be handed to hometown QB prospect Payton Hochhalter Payton Hochhalter 6'2" | 190 lbs | QB Jamestown | 2023 State playing on his new home turf. Like I said in my preview, this kid is one of the better QBs in all of North Dakota and he showed exactly why I feel that way when I watched his development from December 2021 into last Thursday afternoon. He showed a higher jolt of mobility outside of the pocket in my eyes especially with his improved footwork. His touch ball? That can be described as almost effortless as his showed elite ball placement especially on his intermediate and deeper routes from what I watched in Jamestown. Just the drop in his touch was enough to wow those watching the small group of the QBs in attendance and I would be remised if I didn’t think this kid could create even more next-level attention before the end of the summer even though he would look great in that orange and black in Jamestown. Another riser coming in our 2023 class out of the state champion Jamestown Blue Jays.
