Tony Mitchell Tony Mitchell 6'2" | 100 lbs | DB Thompson | 2023 State AL 6’2 180 CB
As a 6-2 cornerback, Mitchell is an elite playmaker who would be a 5-star recruit at any position within the secondary. With next-level size and skill, Mitchell will be pivotal in writing another chapter in Thompson’s dynasty. As a cover corner, he excels in both zone and man coverage. He flashes his football IQ in zone coverage and plays well in situational football. He can read QB’s eyes, recognize route patterns, and drive on the ball to mitigate gains after the catch. With length, strength, and smooth footwork, he can be physical with bump and run coverage, minimize throwing windows and play through the hands to get deflections. This physicality is also shown when supporting the run game. Mitchell is more than willing to seal the edge, get off the block to contain perimeter runs, and make plays on ball carriers in traffic.
