The state of Arkansas enters a dead period today, which means team activities and fieldhouses are closed for two weeks to players. However, we have plenty of recruiting news to go over with scholarship offers, recruiting visits, and commitments taking place. We are going to get caught up on all the recruiting news making headlines in the Natural State this week. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="201147" first="Anton" last="Pierce"]-Athlete-Little Rock Mills-2023</strong> Fresh off an excellent showing at the Arkansas Razorbacks 7-on-7 competition, [player_tooltip player_id="201147" first="Anton" last="Pierce"] will head this weekend to Jonesboro for the Arkansas State camp. Pierce is one of those players that can play on both sides of the ball and excel. In the secondary, Pierce makes life difficult for opposing wide receivers and will bat passes away. Meanwhile, Pierce has the hands and athletic ability to take score from anywhere on the field. I expect another big performance from Pierce this weekend in Jonesboro. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="91987" first="Cedric" last="Hawkins"]-Running Back-Stuttgart-2023</strong> One of the most productive running backs in the class of 2023 calls Stuttgart home. Earlier in the week, Hawkins put on a great showing at the Arkansas State camp. The Stuttgart running back showed not only an ability to run the football but also tremendous ability working as a wide receiver. After a strong performance at Arkansas State, Hawkins placed a verbal commitment to the Red Wolves after earning a scholarship offer. Congratulations go out to Hawkins on his commitment to Arkansas State. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="258682" first="Travion" last="Dickens"]-Athlete-Prescott-2023</strong> Dickens is one of the most athletic prospects in the class of 2023. From the defensive side of the ball, he is a young man that is always around the ball. Dickens uses his speed well to defeat blocks and get into the offensive backfield. Dickens earned a scholarship from the United States Military Academy, and he recently committed to play his college football at West Point. A big congratulations go out to Dickens! The 2022 season should be another strong from Dickens and the Curley Wolves. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="133157" first="Landon" last="Jones"]-Wide Receiver-Lonoke-2023</strong> [player_tooltip player_id="133157" first="Landon" last="Jones"] is a wide receiver that makes stretching the field vertically a viable option for his offense. He made some big receptions at the Arkansas camp earlier in the week. However, his work is not finished, and he will be attending the Arkansas State camp in Jonesboro this weekend. I expect Jones to have another strong camp in Jonesboro and he is a wide receiver to watch out for this season. <strong>Marquaze Parker-Defensive Line-West Memphis-2024</strong> One of the most versatile prospects in the class of 2024 is West Memphis defensive lineman Marquaze Parker. He is a prospect that explodes off of the line of scrimmage and disrupts the offensive backfield. Parker’s recruiting has started to blow up over the past few weeks. He has received scholarship offers from Arkansas State and Memphis over the past few days. I would expect a strong season from Parker and more scholarship offers to follow over the next few weeks. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="149571" first="Walker" last="White"]-Quarterback-Little Rock Christian-2024</strong> The state of Arkansas is loaded with talented quarterbacks. [player_tooltip player_id="149571" first="Walker" last="White"] is a quarterback that can fit the ball into some tight windows. The accuracy and the arm strength he has is something college football programs are looking for. Over the past few days, White has received scholarship offers from Illinois as well as the Florida Gators. The Little Rock Christian signal caller is just getting started and I expect him to have an extremely strong season in 2022. Keep an eye out for White and Little Rock Christian this season. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="207208" first="Garyt" last="Odom"]-Quarterback Shiloh Christian-2025</strong> Shiloh Christian is starting to become a quarterback factory in Northwest Arkansas. The Saints have a quarterback turning heads in the 2025 class that is turning heads with his performance in camps this summer. Earlier in the week, Odom earned scholarship offers from Arkansas and Texas A &amp; M. Odom has the arm strength to make any throw needed to run the offense. He knows when to use his legs to escape the pocket, meanwhile, he does an excellent job of keeping his eyes down the field to make the throw. Odom is going to do big things over the next few years and is a quarterback to watch.
