The 2023 class is loaded with top linebacker prospects, and they are well represented in the newest 2023 Prep Redzone Rankings.
Here are the top-ranked LB prospects in Georgia for the 2023 class…
CJ Allen CJ Allen 6'0" | 190 lbs | LB Lamar County | 2023 State GA – Lamar County
Ranked as the No. 1 LB prospect in Georgia in the newest Prep Redzone Rankings, Allen is a tough, physical linebacker who can run. The 6-foot-1 220-pounder out of the small-town Barnesville can fly around the field and knows how to make the secure tackle when he meets the ball carrier. Allen has a nose for the football, can dissect plays before they happen, and shows great pursuit to the ball. Allen shows good hands in coverage, he has sideline to sideline speed, and knows how to leave a mark when he makes a tackle. He’s put together physically, and he’s one of the top overall athletes in thee region, playing running back on offense when he’s not dominating at linebacker. He loves contact, he’s got a muscular frame, and he already looks like a D1 linebacker. As a junior last fall, Allen made 91 tackles, 7.5 TFLs, 3 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and 3 INTs. He has everything you look for in a linebacker, and that’s why he’s earned offers from Georgia, Tennessee, Auburn, USC, Oklahoma, among others.
Raul Aguirre – Whitewater
The new No. 3 LB prospect in the state, the 6-foot-1 220-pounder from Fayetteville can do it all at middle linebacker. He’s great in coverage for someone his age, but he’s also known as one of the biggest hitters in the region. Aguirre is coming off a great junior season where he controlled the middle of the field and showed impressive quickness and speed to the ball. If anyone came across the middle, Aguirre finds a way to make a play. He shows great instincts for a middle linebacker and sniffed out runs on a consistent basis. Whether he was going sideline to sideline or stuffing the middle of the trenches, the four-star always found a way to get to the ball carrier. He consistently flashes and makes plays in the backfield. He’s fast, physical, and can line up at both inside and outside linebacker due to his overall instincts and athleticism. Not only is he ranked as the No. 2 LB prospect, but he’s now ranked as the No. 18 overall prospect in the state. He holds offers from Alabama, Florida, Ohio State, among others.
Dee Crayton Dee Crayton 6'2" | 210 lbs | LB Denmark | 2023 State GA – Denmark
Coming in at No. 2 in the newest linebacker rankings is two-way standout Dee Crayton Dee Crayton 6'2" | 210 lbs | LB Denmark | 2023 State GA out of Denmark High School. One of the most dynamic players in his 7A region, Crayton is an impressive linebacker who was a tackling machine last fall. Playing for one of the top defensive coaches in the entire state, Crayton is a 6-foot-2 215-pounder with versatility as he can line up at middle linebacker, outside linebacker, and blitz from anywhere on the field. Crayton has a nose for the football and has enough speed to go sideline to sideline to get to the ball carrier. He’s great at getting after the passer but is reliable when dropping back into coverage as well. The 7A Region 6 Defensive Player of the Year made 91 tackles, 14 TFLs, and made four sacks on the season, leading a Danes defense that was one of the state’s best among all classifications. He’s a true weapon on defense who is always in the right spot to make a play. He’s a game-changer at linebacker and he holds offers from Penn State, Auburn, Clemson, Missouri, among others.
Jamal Anderson Jamal Anderson 6'4" | 205 lbs | LB Mill Creek | 2023 State GA – Mill Creek
One of the fastest-rising outside linebacker prospects in the state, Anderson saw a big jump in the latest Prep Redzone rankings and is now ranked as the No. 4 LB in Georgia and No. 35 overall in the latest 2023 rankings. The junior pass rusher is seeing his stock rise after a big 2021 season where he made 78 tackles, 7 TFLs, and four sacks. The son of former NFL running back Jamal Anderson Jamal Anderson 6'4" | 205 lbs | LB Mill Creek | 2023 State GA , the younger Anderson stands at 6-foot-4 190-pounds with room to add more weight and mass. The rising senior also intercepted two passes, recovered a fumble, and forced another. He’s athletic, he moves really well, and easily shows D1 talent. He made a big impact on a 7A defense and will hope to push Mill Creek towards a championship this fall. He holds offers from Michigan State, Louisville, Vanderbilt, Miami, UCF, Virginia, among others.
