The players have had good performances in the classroom as student-athletes as well. I am doing a review of five players that I would offer right now based on their field and classroom performances.
Connor Clark Connor Clark 6'5" | 225 lbs | QB Cardinal Gibbons | 2023 NC , 6’6″ 220, (No. 29 Overall/No. 2 QB), Cardinal Gibbons HS. Connor displayed leadership and poise as he led a high-powered offensive unit to an undefeated regular season. He is a great arm talent who can really throw the ball accurately on medium and long-range passes. Connor gained big yardage when he decided to run to avoid being sacked. Connor Clark Connor Clark 6'5" | 225 lbs | QB Cardinal Gibbons | 2023 NC led his team to the 4A State Championship while finishing the season with 2,795 passing yards and 30 passing TDs. He completed 63% of his passes. I have been watching Connor’s progression and development as a football player since Middle School. He will continue to improve his skillset during off-season training. Connor’s participation in Summer Prospect Camps will generate recruiting interest for him.
Marqies McCombs Marqies McCombs 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB Chase | 2023 State NC , 5’10″ 180, (No. 24 Overall/No. 5 RB), Chase HS. Marqies follows blockers looking for an opening to accelerate past defenders to gain big yardage. He runs with balance and does not go down after initial contact is made. Marqies displayed good speed in the open field and good vision while running inside. Marqies McCombs Marqies McCombs 5'10" | 180 lbs | RB Chase | 2023 State NC finished the season with 2,884 rushing yards and 38 rushing TDs. He will continue to improve his skillset during off-season training. Marqies’s participation in Summer Prospect Camps will generate recruiting interest for him.
Will Coats Will Coats 6'4" | 285 lbs | OL Clayton | 2023 State NC , 6’3″ 290, (No. 74 Overall/No. 5 OL), Clayton HS. Will displayed good technique and footwork to control defender while opening lanes for the running backs. He uses quickness and strength to overpower defenders. Will moves well in tight spaces. Will is expected to be the leader and anchor the offensive line during the upcoming season. He will continue to improve his skillset during off-season training. Will’s participation in Summer Prospect Camps will generate recruiting interest for him.
Ricky Swindell Ricky Swindell 6'3" | 310 lbs | DL Scotland Co. | 2023 State NC , 6’3″ 310, (No. 212 Overall/No. 29 DL), Scotland Co. HS. He runs well in the open field to close in on the ball carrier for the stop. Ricky displayed good use of hands and upper body strength to control blockers and make the stop. He displayed good technique and footwork coming out of his stance to make contact with blockers. Ricky finished the season with 22 tackles and 2 tackles for losses. He is expected to be the leader and anchor the defensive line during the upcoming season. He will continue to improve his skillset during off-season training. Ricky’s participation in Summer Prospect Camps will generate recruiting interest for him.
Isreal Terry Isreal Terry 5'10" | 180 lbs | DB Vance Co. | 2023 State NC , 5’10″ 180, (No. 104 Overall/No. 11 DB), Vance Co. HS. Isreal displayed quick reaction to the ball and speed to close in on the ball carrier for the stop. He displayed good technique and lateral movement to cover the wide receivers, breaking up passes often. He is a technique sound defensive back who makes solid tackles in the open field. Isreal is expected to continue to train to improve his skillset during the off-season. He is expected to anchor the defensive secondary and continue his high level of play during the upcoming season. He recently ran a 4.53 40-yard run with a sprained hamstring at a UNC Prospect Camp. Isreal’s Summer Camps participation will generate recruiting interest for him.
