We looked long and far for some of the state’s top signal-callers that have yet to receive a division one offer. A few have picked up some NAIA and Division two offers, but none have yet to receive that coveted scholarship from college football’s highest level. There are some serious candidates on this list that could project at that level and some others who could be potential steals at the lower levels. With that being said, here’s who you need to know!
Braylen Himmelein, 6’4" 195, Davison A poised prospect with calm feet and a quick set-up. He’s fearless against the blitz, stepping into every throw regardless of whether he sees a free rusher bearing down. Not a burner, but Braylen can provide some running ability and has the size to move the sticks in short-yardage situations. [player_tooltip player_id="193362" first="Leeshaun" last="Mumpfield"], 5’10" 160, Cass Tech A southpaw that puts plenty of air under the deep ball for his target. Leeshaun is a master escape artist that is so explosive on film and will make tacklers look silly. If the pocket collapses, he keeps his eyes downfield, looking for someone to throw to, and will put it where only his man can get it. [player_tooltip player_id="323573" first="Colin" last="McKernan"], 6’1" 180, Brighton Colin shows impressive change of direction as a runner and excellent timing with his wideouts. He’s consistent throwing on the move and can get the ball out of his hand quickly. He’s quite creative against free rushers and has enough arm talent to throw field-side corner routes from the opposite hash. Cory Chavis, 6’6" 195, Redford Union Chavis has the ideal size for a quarterback prospect and, at times, will have some serious velocity behind his throws. He easily ID’s man coverage pre-snap and will drop the lollipop fade ball right into his target’s breadbasket. He’s a deadly thrower in the red area with polished footwork. Ethan Hamby, 6’2" 205, Dakota The first thing that jumps out to me about Hamby is his accuracy. This young man can fit the football into tight windows and knows when to take something off his throws. He shows plus athleticism as a runner and is just lethal off play-action & RPOs. [player_tooltip player_id="243467" first="Seneca" last="Moore"], 6’2" 180, Holt A tremendous arm talent that can make all the throws when forced off his spot. Moore is a master at extending the play and will hold onto the football until the last possible second to ensure his target is open. He’s a tough kid that can challenge safeties over the top and shows twitchy hips. [player_tooltip player_id="30338" first="Christian" last="Johnson"], 6’2" 210, River Rouge A composed prospect that plays fearless and is a physical runner with terrific contact balance. Johnson is a natural vertical ball thrower that will hit his wide receiver right in stride. He squares his shoulders when throwing on the move and will put it right on his target’s numbers. [player_tooltip player_id="30330" first="Robert" last="Lalain"], 6’3" 220, Divine Child Robert shows some twitchy operation time and turns into a bruiser as a runner near the goal line. He has a good frame on him and is willing to take what the defense gives him & hit his check down. He’s shown that he can easily adjust his arm slot to make tight throws and can do so without setting his feet. [player_tooltip player_id="216997" first="Alex" last="Bueno"], 6’ 180, Rochester Plenty of arm talent to go with excellent decision-making. Bueno shows pinpoint accuracy on all three levels and serious acceleration as a runner. This young man is a true gun-slinger who I think would be a tremendous fit in an air raid offense at the next level.
