The purpose was to give a platform for some of the top athletes in the Carolinas directly to multiple historically black colleges and universities. Over 30 colleges and universities were in attendance with a total of 87 coaches including 8 HBCU Head Coaches. The event was a landmark success for putting players in the Carolinas on a pedestal, led by Charlotte Football Insiders.
Tyson Moorer Tyson Moorer 6'4" | 285 lbs | OL Providence Day | 2023 State NC – Class of 2023 – Providence Day – Tyson is a plug-and-play Offensive Lineman in my opinion – he will be a player that can come into a college program next season and be ready to contribute. He is a very solid 6’3 280 pounds and can play as a power guard who has the ability to short pull on a trap or long pull on counters or sweeps. He has enough athleticism to play tackle as well, but I think he could be dominant on the interior as he continues to grow. He had a very impressive performance at the HBCU Carolinas Showcase, leading to his first offer – which was a shock in itself – from Fayetteville State. Since then, he has picked up offers from Benedict College and Emory & Henry. As he hits the camp circuit this summer, I expect for his interest to rise exponentially resulting in additional offers and opportunities on the next level.
Sean McFarland Sean McFarland 6'3" | 265 lbs | OL Marvin Ridge | 2023 State NC – Class of 2023 – Marvin Ridge High School – Sean is a player I have seen up close virtually all offseason, and he is the modicum of consistency. He is a very technically sound OL who can be a very good Offensive Tackle on the next level. He is sitting at 6’3 and 260 pounds with a frame to add good weight easily. I love his feet, he is able to stay in front of speed rushers while pass blocking and always has his hands in a good position, inside the frame of the rusher. Sean has a very high ceiling just because of how he has been taught and as he fills his body out he will improve as a physical run blocker- right now I think his strength in the run game is the ability to reach an outside technique in Outside Zone type of plays and climbing to the next level and staying on those blocks.
Braylon Canales Braylon Canales 6'3" | 290 lbs | OL Jay M. Robinson | 2024 State NC – Class of 2024 – JM Robinson High School – At 6’3 and 290 pounds, Braylon is a player that a lot of coaches will keep an eye on being that he is a 2024 prospect with another year to add strength and weight to a strong frame. He can play center or guard, and he is coming into a big year for him. Coming off this strong performance in a good offensive line group, if he can put together some good film in a strong start to the season I would expect some offers to come his way. At the showcase, he impressed by stonewalling interior pass rushers and not allowing immediate penetration in A and B gaps. He also showed good footwork in short spaces when taking his first and second steps toward the pass rush gap.
Ola Olasimbo – Class of 2023 – North Mecklenburg High School – Ola is one of the most under-the-radar recruits in North Carolina. At 6’4 and 290 pounds, his potential is massive at Offensive Tackle, and as a result of that, he earned THREE offers from the HBCU Showcase – North Carolina Central University, Shaw University, and Allen University. Ola moves very well laterally and really projects to be a great pass blocking prospect. However, when you study his film, you can see him get a little nasty in the run game and come off the ball well on power-based run plays, especially down blocks and plays where he can just step and drive into an opponent. I am very excited about Ola’s growth and his potential for more offers simply from having more exposure as we continue into the summer.
Kiande Marsh Kiande Marsh 6'1" | 305 lbs | OL Hough | 2025 State NC – Class of 2025 – Ashbrook High School – Kiande is already 6’1 and 285 pounds and plays a valuable position at Center, so he has a high ceiling with plenty of time to continue to develop. He played very well on a big stage, showing an excellent skill level at snapping and stepping at the same time to cut off the charge of his shaded defender.
